2016 bed alignment is not correct.

Anybody else with this issue ?. Purchased a tundra with a long bed about 6 months ago. Got to looking at the body while wash and waxing the truck the other day and noticed that the bed is about 1 inch off center to the right from the back of the cab. Service person said he has never seen anything like that in his 4 years with the dealership. They are going to look at it next week. Can this be corrected at the dealership ?. Is there room for adjustment ?.

Mine is off center too. Not a whole inch but definitely noticeable. I'm going to address it on my next oil change next week. Let me know what they say.

 

That sounds like something they can fix.

 

Mine is too!!! Maybe about 3/8". Double cab long bed. And my front bumper is different in height left to right.

 

I was just looking at mine while installing my firestone airbags and cradles and mine is pretty much perfect. the dealer should be able to fix

 

I had an old truck that had the same issue and a body shop was able to adjust it and get it right on. The tech that did the adjustment said the body itself usually has an oversized hole in it, so you have that adjustment option. Maybe your truck got built on a Friday PM or Monday AM ? If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll talk with the QA guys in the plant and see what the tolerance is. Been meaning to do this, because mine is noticeably off as well.

 

So I wasn't able to talk with any of the managers, but one of the floor QA inspectors said that the tolerance for bumper alignment is up to 1" variance from one side to the other. I will try to follow up and verify this to be correct.

 

Turns out to be that the cab alignment is off from the factory. Dealership tried to adjust the bed. No adjustment. Service manager told me to take it to the best body shop in town. Shop owner said it was the cab that is out of alignment. Estimate repair cost is 300 dollars. Toyota will pay for it.

 

I just noticed my 2014 crewmax is off as well. About 1/2 to 3/4 inch, and can tell by how much my tires stick out

 

I loosened my bed up and the rear bumper the first month I had at home to realign everything.

 

Can you tell me which bolts I need to loosen, or reference a thread that can help, it super annoying!! Lol My OCD is in the red! Ha ha

 

Just for the bed alone loosen the bolts that are on the floor of the bed. I looked up the torque specs to make sure I torqued them properly when I was done. And for the bumper I think it was three bolts on each side along the frame. Once you get under there and look at it it's pretty self-explanatory just make sure you torque everything back up. I don't remember any specific post that I got it from I just looked up the torque specs.

 

62 ft/lbs for the bed bolts and I think it was 84 ft/lbs for the bumper to frame bolts. It's actually where the trailer hitch is attached to the frame.

I once had a 1950 3/4T ford with an 8' bed and a 12" space between the cab and the bed. I searched around for a 9' bed but couldn't find one. Never really figured that one out...

 

Yep, same on my '14! Rear passenger tire appears to stick out about 1" farther, so my bed is basically shifted 1/2" toward the driver side. One of these days I'll loosen the bolts and giver a nudge to the passenger side.

 

I'm pretty sure it's the axle is off. Just get the bed square with the cab and call it a day. Everyone complains of the axle being off-center, something to do with the driveline.

 

Mine is definitely the bed, without even looking at the tire as a reference , I can easily see the rear of the bed pushed over toward the drivers side.

Mine is the same. Rear passenger tire sticks out about an inch further from bed than driver side. angle on photos is not the exact same, but I think you can get the idea from the pictures.

 

It is my understanding just from doing a lot of reading on different Tundra forums, that the rear axle is off center on the tundra...presumably on purpose. Same as the infamous "Tundra Lean" that cannot be explained
