    Title
SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN K0B (Remedy Notice) - Certain 2018 – 2019 Model Year Tacoma and Tundra - Millimeter Wave Radar Sensor
    Status
    Remedy Available
    Description
The involved vehicles are equipped with a Pre-Collision System (PCS) that may automatically apply the brakes if the system detects a potential collision. Due to the mounting of one of the system’s sensors, it is possible for water to enter the sensor. This can lead to PCS deactivation or inadvertent brake activation resulting in limited deceleration for a short duration of time.
    Remedy
Any authorized Toyota dealer will update the PCS software and apply sealer to the millimeter wave radar sensor in the front grille. In the rare case that the vehicle is currently exhibiting the condition, dealers will diagnose the sensor and replace the sensor, as necessary, FREE OF CHARGE.

And to think some want MORE technology.

Never have it brake on me but when it rains it cuts out all the time.

I've had mine for a month, the PCS has turned itself off several times due to rain / etc. Last night driving home in the snow, the Adaptive Cruise Shut off and would not turn back on. The memo said dirty sensor or something.. This was annoying..

Thank my lucky stars I've never had an issue with my radar cruise. That said I don't use it anyway. Don't like it. I just hold the cruise button down to turn off the radar and use it like an old fashion cruise control.

dynamic cruise control has been around for nearly 10 years available to the masses, not new or fancy.

OK so I just watched the video on the recall. My 2019 Plat is part of it based off VIN but haven't been sent any notification yet....But I'm lifted 3/2 on 35's and haven't had a single problem here in Florida.

Looking at the steps....Am I reading this right that IF the sensor has vent holes, they dont do anything to it? And if its not throwing warning they don't do anything else? And if it DOESN'T have vent holes all they do is take the grill off with the sensor still in it and apply some EPT tape?

Soooooo instead of going through the hassle of fighting the dealer or Toyota because I'm lifted can't I just look at the sensor on my truck, if it has vents do nothing, and if it doesn't just slap the same EPT tape on it and call it good?

Edit...heres the sensor on my truck....looks nothing like the two in the recall...
Edit 2: Different color....different label J vs FP no vent holes.....

I added the youtube video with how the recall is performed and how I'm going to DIY this myself in the other thread.

    what are you not understanding?
you seem to be inferring that technology is bad. My point is, it's not really "new fancy tech". It's just adaptive cruise control that has been around for 10 years, and toyota cant get it right, at least on the tundra.

In my experience, vehicles (non-toyota) that have had adaptive cruise have been trouble free (ford and mercedes)

I use it on occasion but found it to be too problematic to use it often (and never in the rain). I turn PCS off everytime I drive the Tundra (wish I could have it permanently disabled) so no worries there either. I got the notice in the mail and will probably have the mods done at some point.

Do not think it is so simple. The sealant or tape is only half of the fix.

Of course its not that simple the video showed exactly what they will do. Don't need or want the other half (knock on wood). My truck is working fine lifted but if the epdm can keep the sensor from acting up due to moisture so be it. They aren't going to touch it anyways due to lift/tires and I'm NOT taking everything off when its working just fine not throwing any warnings or errors.

I had mine in for service yesterday. They knocked out the recall while it was there. I didn't even know about the recall yet.

Well I live in Arizona. Mine was acting up in the Fall but was not wet at the time so I think calibration / a firmware update is part of the problem. I wish you luck in your campaign!

No issues with it on my wife’s 2019 Highlander. I haven’t really heard of many issues with it on other Toyota vehicles not sure why they can’t straighten it out on the Tundra.

Just got back from having my oil changed and they said Toyota is ONLY PERFORMING THIS RECALL WORK ON STOCK HEIGHT TRUCKS...AT THIS TIME.

For those of us with lifts and/or aftermarket shocks, hurry up and wait.

Highly doubt that. Theyll run the VIN. If the stock tire size is not on the truck or if suspension has been modified they will likely decline.

I've got to say between this thread, the others on the same issue, and my past experiences with how Toyota has addressed warrantable issues on my own vehicle (tried to fix once, twice, then said there was nothing wrong with the same symptom - and swapped some parts with a new vehicle on the lot), I won't be shopping for a new Toyota when I replace my wife's vehicle in the next year. This is disheartening to say the least.

What if you have larger tires? I want to go a size up. Surely they wouldn't fight me on that?!

Mine is pro height with 6112s and I see your logic but it's a black and white issue to the dealers. Toyota made the decision easy for them. Its modded or it isnt...

That's exactly where I am with 6112s as well. I will probably end up keeping this truck for some time, but I'm not sure if I could find a dealer competent enough to work on it... So it very well may never see a dealership again, unless there's some sort of catastrophic failure.
