You should, it's a good group of folks. I'm sure we could come up with some sort of birthday hazing.

My phone never rang.... :notsure:

    @831Tun
@Challenger1, I can't tell if you're kidding or not* so I'll answer with info for anyone reading along at home, trying to learn without asking.

Sam has driven all over SoCal dirt on that spacer lift, 9,000 miles worth, often solo or with only one other truck (i.e. no big rescue squad), and had no problems with the spacer lift. Until they failed.

He tried one afternoon to keep up not fall too far behind the SGU guys (speed freaks, wah-HOO) and BAM! Both shocks went down simultaneously. He was able to limp forward to pavement, and home without tow, because the tires he had fit without that extra shock height (driving straight; not locked into turns), but it crippled his truck. And lost him months of playtime until he bought more "real" shocks.

So, yeah, you can explore most of the dirt in SoCal with any lift you want. Better than a spacer lift IMO would be a stock 4x4 with no lift. Heck, you can explore most SoCal dirt with a stock 2WD and stock Michelin tires....:anonymous:

Spacer lifts are great for that lifted look but that's what they're for, a cheap alternative to 2.5 or 3.0 coilovers that cost a lot. But even Ikons are more likely to fail if you run them under spacer blocks then without. All will be well until you stress your suspension with articulation at higher speeds. Or suspension under force (i.e. trying to beat a significant obstacle at any speed, or during a collision). Its not what they're designed to do.

If I were to run a spacer lift, I'd do it with the cheapest shocks I could find. Not risk breaking anything costly.

*this opinion has been rated and valued at ¢.02.

 We've been actively searching for an Inferno we can get out to join us on runs I drive my (green) 1st gen. The team needs you to bring your truck!!

Also. Inferno. That truck will take you anywhere you want, in 2WD, on stock tires, no lift. Proven fact.

I’d rather not list. My wife might see it.
Thanks for the awesome invite. The only off road experience I have is when I drove over our lawn. I’ll have to watch Cleghorn videos to see if I’m capable.

Another issue is the spacer lift I have on. I didn’t know any better and completely trusted 4WP on what to do... lesson learned. Do I remove-replace before Cleghorn or will it be ok? I don’t plan to go nuts on my first outing but no point on limiting myself to the fire roads either.

Sorry. I thought the “Max lift bro” would have given it away lol.
I definitely am getting rid of the spacers.

If you look back over the thread there's a video posted of the Cleghorn route we'll take. Even though it means looking back over a lot of material, I recommend doing this over a random YouTube search, because there are offshoots that require more skill or truck mods and if you watch one of those, you'd have the wrong impression of what we SoCal Shenanigans actually do (drive at neighborhood speeds, create our own traffic jams on dirt roads, film through our windshields and take pictures of us parked up somewhere, DEEP. Oh! And when we meet Dodges coming from the opposite way, we :muscleflexing: so they have to move over and let us all pass!)

I don't want to be the one to admit it, but this run will be totally spacer-lift friendly.

Most of us bring our families in whatever combination we can get to come with-- she's very welcome to join and will be one of several ladies in attendance. Kids too!

This will be, seriously, the least "off-road" off-road trip we've done-- just enough to get our trucks dirty then line 'em up for pics-- followed by a meet-up in a parking lot or restaurant. Or, if numbers keep growing, maybe a... high school football stadium....!

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
When I was in college me and some friends visited Manila. We had a balut eating contest. I ate 9, no hot sauce. Everyone in the contest threw up. Hahaha.
