Notice any sound diff?

 

I can't speak for anyone else, but I did not notice any whistling whatsoever. Sounded exactly the same as stock. I have ran about 6 CAI on several vehicles and never felt a difference on any vehicle. Maybe placebo effect but I think I feel a little bit of difference on the low-mid range around 2500 rpm. To be honest ai only bought it for the looks and did not expect any gains so if there was any gains I guess I will take it.

I track every tanks MPG and drive the exact route to and from work every day. Pretty good repeatable test of MPG. As crazy as it sounds, I got .4 better in my way to work than I have ever gotten. Maybe just luck, but I will see if over the next 1000 miles if I get an improvement.

 

Yes it did. The dealer's website automatically applied the 40% discount which allowed me to enter the trdship code.

 

Not a huge difference in sound, but noticeable

 

The whistling comes from a screen on the new hose that connects to the throttle body. Mine has the whistle but I kinda like it. Sounds great when At WOT.

 

Does the intake only come with the top half of the air box or is the entire air box different?

It just comes with the top half. You reuse the bottom half of the stock air intake.

Sometime in the mid to later half of the 80s, I'd bike downtown at the beginning of every month to the local 5 and 10. Making a bee line to the comic book rack, I'd shuffle the older issues around looking to see if the next GI Joe issue had arrived. Hoping it would involve something with ninjas...

Not seeing it had arrived yet, I'd peddle my ass home and do it all again the next day. And the day after. And the day after.

It taught me a great lesson in patience.

Since then I've grown into a man and mostly forgotten about ninjas. I've also lost any modicum of patience and want my shit to get here NOW.

I was on vacation out there this last weekend, found the place.

 

I initially ordered from them, but I screwed up my order and immediately emailed them to cancel it. They billed me anyway. I have since called twice and emailed 3 times and have heard absolutely nothing back from them.

I'm going to call today to try to get some satisfaction, but if they don't respond again, I'm going to dispute it with my CC company.

It still shows "Payment confirmed" in order status.

The intake kit only replaces the top of the air box and you reuse the bottom portion that you already have.

 

That's a good sign. I ordered some stuff from Butte and patiently waiting for them to update the status of my order (also used free shipping code).

My order at Daytona is STILL waiting on the black exhuast tips. Sigh.

 

My parts guy in MD said Toyota didn’t expect it to be as big as it was. He had to get parts shipped in from all over. Biggest sale item was Tacoma TRD wheels. I ordered these at like 0001 hrs thinking it might help expedite things...

 

Just called John Elway Crown Toyota in Ontario, CA. Most of my big parts are there! They said I can pick up imcomplete orders so I’ll go get what’s ready now and wait for the rest. Still on order is the TRD radiator cap, TRD rear brake pads, and TRD oil filters. Me reason to let a back ordered oil filter stop me from installing my sway bar and skid plate!! I ordered the TRD skid plate spacer kit from ReadyLift due to my diff drop. I’ll report back how it works!

Is the in take tube on the TRD larger in diameter than the stock? Thanks for answering my questions.

 

I'm very jealous of you all who have received your parts from the 4/4 Special. I'm in Oregon and ordered a Rear Sway Bar from Foothills Toyota in Burlington, WA; still have not update from them on when it might be shipping....

 

you reuse the lower intake box, but you replace the in fender pickup tube, and all the tubing all the way to the throttle body. I don't think its better, just shaped differently, supposedly to smooth out air flow.. , I didn't get it to add more power, I just got it because the red TRD logo on the box is cool.

 

Me too, but I really am not blowing smoke I think I feel a little bit of difference.....

My OCD mental overload is glad you lined up those notches, I saw one post on here where they admitted they didnt realize there were matching notches and though they got the wrong part and shaved them off with a box knife...

 

Got boff of dem purdy red thingz on my 2017 4WD. Oh my is it fun to drive with them in their proper installed place.

 

Common sense! I’m very OCD I knew right away what them notches were!
