2018 Tundra - with 3/1 Ready Lift and Tires

I thought this post might help some other city drivers like myself that aren't looking for offroad performance (Bilstein, new coilovers, king, etc). Before I decided on the leveling kit, I scoured this forum and didn't see anyone with this exact setup, so I thought I would share.

• I have a 2018 1794 crewmax, 4WD.

• I put a 3/1 Ready lift (level + rear spacer) on it. SKU 69-5175. (https://www.readylift.com/3-f-1-r-sst-lift-kit-toyota-tundra-trd-sr5-rock-warrior-2012-2018.html)

• I put BFG KO2 @ 275/65/R20 on the truck. They fit without issue except at full left lock, they rub the skid plate slightly. I will bend that out of the way this weekend.   • You would not be able to fit 285/65/R20 comfortably, without changing to a non-stock rim. I wanted the wider tires, but didn't think it'd be worth the risk and didn't want to do wheels/rims.
• I attached a photo of my alignment results. The total toe is less than .24 and the other numbers looked ok to me. If any of you tundra gurus see an issue, please let me know.

Ok, I'm looking to go with a 3" lift in front and torn between the 275/65/20 and the 285/65/20. I think the wider tire would look better but the main reason for wanting to go 285 is for the extra half inch in height. But I see on your post that it won't fit. Thoughts? Oh, this would be on stock rims too.

 

Yeah. Won’t fit. The extra .4” of height wouldn’t be noticeable anyhow. And without aftermarket rims, you won’t even really notice any width difference either.

Alright, finally able to come across someone with the information and evidence that I need. Going to pick your brain cause I have been back and forth and everywhere inbetween on this. Finally settled on the lift. Going 3" in the front and leaving back stock simply because my rear is 3.25" higher and stock. Seems as though my rear is higher than 'norm' and the front is lower than 'norm'.

Currently running 275/60/20s on stock setup. So, wasn't crazy about going 275/65, even if I'm gaining over an inch in height. So was going 285/65. Guy at tire shop told me I may run into a problem with rubbing the UCAs and may need a spacer which I didn't want. But you read about this one and that one that got away with 285/65, no spacers and cleared just about everything. The other person at tire shop was trying to point me to the 275/65 since it's same width as what I'm currently running. Width not really bothering me, just wanted that extra .5" and basically same price for both sets so not gaining $$ dropping down.

What makes you say they won't fit? What were the problems? If you have more pics of yours, would love to see.

 

I got the 275/65/20 for $265 per tire plus install and fees at discount tire. The 285/65/20 would’ve been about $50 more per tire.

I did the same research you are doing. Mine as installed clear the suspension components but not by a whole lot. Go look at your tire then imagine growing by 1.25” in height and .75” in width on the inside. You’ll be close to rubbing at a straight wheel position. Too close for my comfort.

I had to bend my skid plate on the right side (rubbed at full left lock). There are other components that are not much further away than the skid plate so I don’t think they wouldn’t rub.

Your answer. Go to discount tire and have them do a test fitting. Have one of their guys go to an adjacent parking lot with you and then do a few 360s in forward and reverse. If it works, go for it. I don’t think you’ll find success.

If you don’t do the rear spacer, your truck will look like it’s got the California lean. But try it. You can easily do a 1” rear block on your own later in your driveway, if you don’t like the look.

The other picture I posted looks weird because the truck was leaning in a ditch.

That looks great! I have been waiting / searching for someone that did 3/1 with stock 20" wheels and BFGs. I couldn't decide between keeping my stock 20s or going with aftermarket 18s. I believe you helped me to decide.

 

Man, thanks, great information! Yea, I'm going to see what it looks like with just front. Figure with the 3.25" difference it should end up just about perfect, but never going to really know until it's done, but throwing on a rear block should be fairly simple.

Those pics are night and day! Love the look. You know, plus my tires are just about at the end of their life so they don't look as 'big' as they did new so that's throwing me off as well. Just want to fill the well space with that perfect amount of tire. And the 265 for the tires is a dang good price. GREAT, now that's another thing to think about. Had the tires picked out already and now have to rethink. The KO2s in the 285 were way too pricey, but the 265 is great! Huhhhhh. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Oh, may be a crazy question, I know after installing the lift it will need an immediate alignment but did you have to have it done again after installing the tires as well?

 

Here is my 13 with Readylift 3/2 and 285/70/18's on a +1 offset.
