So, do they make the plug and play for the 18 yet, or is it still the wire splice.

I just finished the install of my AMP Research powersteps on my 2019 TRD Sport. This thread was exactly what I needed. After reading through the instructions several times, coming here and seeing the pics posted really helped a lot. Everything was wired and working perfect the first time. Installation would have been faster, but I had to remove the steps that came from the factory first. I'd post pics, but it's there's not enough light.

Those are the wire taps I use and ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! The other old style have damaged many a wiring harness on vehicles throughout the years.

I installed mine last week and everything had to be spliced in as far as wiring my 2019 trd pro, but what i found out when i first put everything together the driver side wouldn’t work but what i did to correct it and recommend is before you even install the motor for the boards to the truck is connect it to the bracket then power it up and the motor should go into the closed position when door is shut and it should open when door is open, then i pulled the fuse when open and installed it. I learned the hard way when the instructions said to install motor to bracket and then to the truck and the motor was already in the closed position that’s why it wouldn’t work when i opened the door. hopefully this helps also the wiring is correct that amp sent

Haha. Well that's about as not local as it gets for me. LMK if you have a price you'd be willing to ship.

Just make sure you constantly keep the brackets lubricated. Had lots of trouble with mine not closing fully and there is very little room to adjust them so they don't bind. They are also noisy. That being said, mine is a 2014 and I don't know if maybe the design has improved. I ended up ditching mine for NFab rock rails with steps. Much happier.

Yeah mine are from 2009 and are a bit noisy, but it doesn't bother me and I keep them lubed. I think the newer ones use a different motor and are quieter. My Father in Law has some and they are a lot quieter and the motor looks different.

I had a set on my 2010 from the day i bought it in 2010 until i traded it for my 2018 and they performed perfectly, never bound. The key like anything you want to keep in great shape is to make sure they are clean.

Yes I know . I connect to the tan # 3 and the green on number #10. The wear thing it’s when I unplug the conector . They work but when I put it back they don’t

I just installed these on my 18 crew cab. Passenger side works good. Driver side only front door drops the steps but. It the rear door. I used the red wire on the dash and the light blue wire on the kick panel. Anyone have this issue?

I have the AMP Research steps on my 2019 DC. The motor burned out on drivers side. AMP Research sent me new motor under warranty and now i want to attempt the motor replacement. The step is stuck in the 'up' position. I've checked the install guide and called AMP but can't find any vids or other guides to replacing the motor. AMP was not really that helpful when i talked with them.

Has anyone done the motor replacement yet? Appreciate any advice.

I haven’t replaced mine but it looks pretty
Much like a starter motor replacement if you have done one before.

I have not done a starter in a long time. I'm handy but don't do a lot of mechanical work. With that said, my replacement motor has a little 'plug' so i guess there's a harness somewhere? Since it's stuck in the 'up' position, i'm thinking i have to take the step off first to access the motor? that's what i'm not sure about or how that works

If memory serves you can lower the amp step without removing it.

Ok so I did my drivers side motor, but had it in down position... you need to remove the whole step, where it attaches to hinges, 2 Allen screws front and 2 rear. Mark it first for the same reinstall position..I think you can remove it in up position..if not then u may have to loosen hinge mount to frame bolts.

You can disconnect the negative battery terminal... I pulled the fuse for the AMP steps. There is, should be a power wire for it , fused..20220827_073717.jpg
