Bomb loader on B52. Probably would have enjoyed it if I weren't so stupid back then. Didn't play shop politics and too much

Not me....just a jarhead air winger who went to 5 tdy's to Kadena from 80 to 84. Every late afternoon/early evening I'd watch two KC's take off prior to the SR going on a mission. Cool beans. Assuming SR's gulped a lot of kool aid. Especially taking off and disappearing in the night...fast....

It was. After the mission they'd land with a pretty big orange chute. I got to go into the SR hanger at Kadena. Armed SP's. No cameras allowed. What's crazy was you could go off base to a Japanese poster shop and buy a poster of the SR cockpit....o_O
Got the tour of the KC's there too. Giant fuel bladders....The pilots of course had their work cut out. Precise flying but the crewman in the rear maneuvering the boom had the coolest MOS...imho..

My dad was stationed there years ago.Marine aviator. Cheerless Pit. I even went there during my stateside tour based out of New River. Used to go to Bogue Field a lot. In 81. There was a ramp there at the time that the UK Harrier pilots used to train on just before they rained hell on the Falklands...
