    Hi- Just curious what others have done to protect their paint when installing Bushwacker type flares? I found a protection kit out there that includes clear tape to put behind them, has anyone found this option to be effective when it comes to protecting the paint?

    Thanks. Yup, mine also included a rubber type gasket that sticks on to the back side, however dirt/grime still makes its way in between causing a rub line on the paint. Just wondering if anyone has gone with the 3M clear tape method behind and whether it prevented a rub line in the paint?

    Mine fit pretty snug, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea if you're worried about it.

    Even with the gasket it rubs our paint. I didn’t put anything for protection and regret it. I don’t want to take my fenders off now and realize it’s already scratch. Couple buddy’s have pulled theirs off and u see the scratch lines unfortunately

    That's the exact kit I had found in that video. Thanks for the Amazon links, any idea how many feet of tape would be needed for all four?

    Still wondering how effective this method is...I guess it's better than nothing and would at least provide some protection.
