It’s a no go for me guys. I will be returning it for 3 main reasons: noticeable hissing noise when music not playing, backup camera not showing up, and steering wheel control not working. I wanted it to work seemlessly too since it looks very nice, fast, a the touchscreen is responsive. I will be sticking with the stock headunit since I am happy with the sound.

Man that really sucks cause it’s beautiful. I wonder if the CANBUS wire harness they sent is the wrong one? Maybe some pins need to be swapped. I know there is a lot of troubleshooting that the Tesla unit required to work.

I’ll contact Dasaita to see what they say but I don’t want to spend too much time troubleshooting it.

Ken, for the steering wheel control you have to program it first.
Here is video for the program. The only difference is that they have a external control. Hope this helps.

Even if I can program the steering wheel control, the hissing noise is the main issue and also the backup cam.

Could it be the gain staging of the amps? The stock head unit only send 18w per channel before the taco tunes amps. Doesn’t this one send 50w per channel?

If your new amps are gained for the old head unit then the noise floor is going to increase.

Ken - Looking at those who got the Tesla style radio they had to play around with the setting to get the radio to work to their liking so I am sure you'll have to do the same.
As for the hissing noise i think its just may be some connection that's not set right or is touching some metal part that's not suppose to.

Good news guys, seems like I got it to work.
    1) I ran a ground cable to the amps ground point and this got rid of the ground loop/hissing noise.
    2) backup cam is now working, I forgot to plug in the video rca.
    3) steering wheel control is working, need to go into the settings and change the canbus to Toyota Camry/rav4. Tundra is not listed
    4) had to retune the amps

WiFi is working, Bluetooth is working. I still need to test out a few things: apple CarPlay, the gps antenna adapter, microphone(looks like I have to run the supplied microphone).

The most important thing is the sound, it sounds great and I haven’t even mess with the settings yet.

The internet is a scary place. Lol

Glad to see you got the head unit to work! If I decide to go this route maybe I can check it out some time.

I’m so glad you didn’t give up on it. Let me know if I need to order anything extra to get it all working.

Apple CarPlay is working. Everything seems to be working well. I am very happy with this HU. I will play with it for a few days before I write my review but I would recommend this HU if you like to go this route.
Everything is working great. Everything on the excel list is what you need. As it turns out all those adapters from Amazon are just for the gps antenna. I am using the supplied microphone and the sound quality is good. Apple CarPlay is also working well. This HU looks great and I think it’s meant to be in a Tundra..lol032A54D2-C1C4-4819-88DA-CE63D4086338.jpg

Love it! Great Job! I also undertook the whole dynamatting job. it was a pain! put a Audiofrog GB 3 way in the front powered by a helix psix! check it out! sorry no sub photos. I stuck a dual 10 and the amp behind the seat though. I tried to keep the stock HU but ended up getting rid of the hi-levels and put a pioneer 4200 deck in.

How are you liking those taco tunes amps? Was thinking about getting them. I have just read so many mixed reviews

Can you adjust the screen any lower, so that you can push the screen back and have it flush to the frame?

The screen can tilt at different positions but can’t move up/down or in/out. I have it tilt to the best viewing angle to my liking.

@916tundra does the head unit have a subwoofer volume? I like to adjust subs on the fly, like turning them off if listening to a podcast.
