Noticed the other day my spare tire is smaller then the stock tires. I'm guessing its not too big of a deal unless I go 4WD. Has anyone else realized this? Or is this just my spare that magically came with my truck?

This is however better then when I was a teenage and went to use my spare tire when I got a flat 2 hours from home and had a 4 lug spare and a 5 lug car.

My next question is if anyone has been able to put a 285 tire under the truck, or do I have to make a rack? (Spare is a 255)

Not sure about the spare being smaller than stock tires, but it doesn't surprise me. Mine is way undersized now with 35s and stock spare. It will be ok with the open differential.
Not sure what the largest tire is that will fit underneath though.

Ah, I would but I want for the good spare for when I go camping. I might try to make it sit on the bed rail behind the cab...if it won't fit underneath.
