It's time to reroute some coax for the Ham rig and I need to drill a couple of holes for the coax. Is it safe to drill beside the jack and run it through the floor there? Will I hit anything, and is it a single layer, or double?

    Not many yet, mostly stock.
Be sure to use a rubber gromate for the drill hole to protect the cable.

Is that your only option to route the cable? I personally would get a longer cable and route thru one of the engine bay areas. I dont like creating more work when there are other areas to get into the cab.

There are always other options, but I don't like the idea of turning a 10 to 15 foot cable run into a 45+ foot cable run. The antennas are mounted in the bed of the truck.

Look under the truck, there are several rubber plugs that you can replace with a grommet. Also, have you considered going thru the front of the bed into the aft bulkhead of the cab? Shorter and possibly easier.

I just dont like drilling new holes into my truck when its not required. Prepping and weatherproofing can be a pain.

Skip drilling a hole. Rubber grommet under passenger floor carpet and it's right next to your frame to run the wire.

    working on upgrading the audio..
There are.. I used one located right under the back of the passenger bucket seat to run my backup cam wiring up into the cab (versus pulling thru the firewall) and up to the HU. Drilled a hole in the rubber grommet (it's about 2" wide) allowing me to run the cable thru. When re-seated, I sealed the [cable hole] surrounds with black silicone calk, then pushed the split-loom I had encased the cable in, up to the rubber grommet and sealed around it also. NO holes drilled.
