Been emailing dealers on 2019 platinums. Might wait for a 2020. But was searching for 2020 tundra changes. Only thing I can find is smart key entry, push start and 8” info screen with apple/android. Are those the only 3 changes? Read that TRD Pro will get 8” screen. I’m interested in platinum. Will platinum at least get push start and smart key? Or are these changes just for pro. Thanks

2020 will be the last year for the 3rd gen...and the 1st year you can get all the options you wanted way back in 2014!

I would have to agree. I have a 2015 Tacoma, last of the 2nd gens.

I've heard the same, the above mentioned push button/smart key but also Apple Car Play. A little lipstick on Entune's pig...

Yea same here. Hopefully all trims do, especially with technology this day and age. But my guess now is TRD Sport, TRD OR, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro will be standard with push button start.

I’ll keep my 2015. Nothing special or that makes me want to trade it in. The green color is cool tho.

If that’s all change. Then I agree. Newer generation doesn’t always mean better.

I would wait for the 2020, I have a 2018 Platinum and the main downsides are lack of key less and the info-tainment. This potentially addresses all of them. My wife has keyless on her 2017 Highlander and it is fantastic.

My plan is to purchase my 3rd gen shortly and hold it until they've perfected the 2021 redesign. My engineer buddy at Toyota seems really pumped about it but NDA doesn't allow him to say more than that. Which means I might be ready to jump on the new model in 2023-2024.

That'll give us a good sampling of use and allow toyota to perfect the bugs (and hopefully all the hype of it being "Truck of the Year" will have since died down).

If the redesigned Tacoma didn't get it, I have faith the redesigned Tundra won't get it either. Doesn't seem like Toyota's style...

I'll have to disagree with you there. Yes, the 2020 Tundra may be the most "feature rich" of the series but that doesn't make it the best. Not all of us want's all that crap. IMO, the 2016/17's are the best years and the only reason they edge out the 14/15's is because of the 38gal tank and arguably the brake controller. The only thing the '18+ have going for them is the headlights and arguable the grills but the TSS system makes all the 18+ very undesirable to me but that's just me, YMMV?

I've got no desire to get rid of our 2015. I can add Android Auto/Apple Car Play with a deck swap and I know how to turn a key. My wife has the key fob push button start in her MDX. It has its downsides. Since our 2015 doesn't have that TSS crap, I'm even more inclined to keep it.

I agree with this. Tundra doesn't seem like the kind of company to follow everyone else, at least in terms of engine/performance. Having said that, I'm hoping they find a way to put in a 7-8 speed transmission that is programmed incredibly well so it's not always hunting for the next gear. Hopefully this will lead to a 3-4 MPG increase on avg.

Maybe those of us well versed in engine/transmission performance can suggest other ways Toyota can catch up on efficiency without sacrificing smooth ride/longevity.

If you liken the previous 2 generations of Tundras as borrowing from a humvee, I hope the new generation will borrow from the JLTV.

Perhaps it's just me. But I'm always just a little bit "reserved" when there's concern about Mama Toyota eeking out a couple more miles per gallon. It's a big damn truck. Big truck. Ginormous truck. The Corolla...............on the other hand..........

Please don't forget that America is drowning in crude oil. Drowning we have soooo much. Politicians want you to believe (for the 45th year) that the last barrel is almost out of the ground. There's more recoverable oil now known under west Texas than Saudi Arabia and Russia COMBINED.

O.K. I'm done on the subject. Enjoy your day kids.

That’s the only thing I wish my 15 had is the 38gal tank! I will to that upgrade one day! Lol

Yup, a couple of other things I wish my 2015 had but that's a factor of the trim level I got, not the year.

My 2015 is not a daily driver and only has ~35K on it now. Very well might be the last truck I ever buy

Turn it off. It’s what I do every time I drive my wife’s ‘19 Highlander. It’s annoying but wouldn’t be a deal breaker in buying or not buying for me.

I wouldn’t be surprised at this point if the redesign doesn’t come out too 2021 as a 2022 model. Seems kind of silly to add keyless start and the other couple tweaks for one model year.
