Hello all. What a title, right? Well, I've been looking for a truck for about 4 months and was set on the F-150, just couldn't find the right one. Just for kicks and giggles I looked at the Toyota Tundra, which was against my "religion"; I've always been, am, and will be a Honda guy. After a week of looking, I did the unthinkable, and bought a Tundra. Found the car Wednesday, looked at it Thursday, bought it Friday, and brought it home a week later. Why a week later... well, I didn't tell my wife I actually bought a truck and wasn't sure how to break the news. Eventually I just brought it home without telling and parked it in the driveway. My 4 year old son did the rest. He told her that "daddy bought a Monster Jam truck." She took it well. Once she looked at it, she looked at me and asked if I was okay, because "it's a Toyota?" A lot of my friends were shocked, too.

So anyways, here are the details. It's a 2010 with 79,000 miles, double cab, Silver Sky Metallic, 5.7 flex fuel, SR5 with TRD Off-Road package. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the car even thought it's a Toyota. I still feel awkward driving it and looking at the "T" badge on the steering wheel, but the car feels solid, at least it should last me a while. I picked it up beyond dirty from the stealership, but didn't want them to touch it. I detail my own cars.

I've been reading this forum four about a week now and just signed up. There are some things I want to do to this truck. Not sure if I'm overdoing it on a fairly old vehicle, but here's what I want to:

    1. De-chrome bumpers and grill, not sure if I want to keep the bumpers black or colormatch, or colormatch front and keep rear black.

    2. Wheels, most likely Level 8 MK6, but I'm not sure how good of a brand that is, hopefully they won't fall apart on me.

    3. Most likely replace the shocks, since I'm pretty sure the truck still has original shocks, although they are not leaking, but normally, depending on the car, I change my shocks at about 60,000.

    4. Debating on doing Katzkin covers, but the truck will be strictly used for work around the house, Home Depot trips, and towing my race car so, not sure if it's worth the money on a car this old.

Well, that would be it for now. Any input and advice on the mods is always welcome and appreciated.

Still can't believe I bought a Toyota. Thanks for reading.

You're doomed now. Once you get a toyota, any kind of toyota, its hard to every trust other brands again.

Mod a truck that old? Pfft... It's a Tundra, it's barely broken in. These trucks are getting a million miles with the same engine, tranny, everything. You're only mistake so far, coming to this site 'cause it breeds mod fever.:D:spending:

Yeah, that's what some of my friends who have them are saying. That's actually one of the reasons why I bought it. I normally buy new cars and kind of wish I bought a new, or a newer one, but then I would've felt bad for "trashing" it... yeah... first world problems... :notsure:

This is about what I was gonna say. 79k is very low miles for a Tundra and these are solid so 2010 is no biggie either. Yes you should mod the heck out of it. That'll make you love it.

    No regrets.

Welcome! Mod away! Everyone I've heard of love their katskins, I'd like to do it someday, but other mods are higher priority for me right now. Chrome doesn't look bad on that color in my opinion, but don't hesitate to dechrome if it's not your style.

Truck is barely broken in. Treat it right and it will last a long time. Welcome to the dark side!
