My '06 Crewcab Tundra came with a non working remote and I have purchased a second one but neither one will sync with the truck and operate the door locks. I have a power rear window and no remote door locks...or do I? The VIN says power locks (inconclusive). Is there a way to physically examine the car and see if there is or is not a receiver for the remote door locks? On the windshield behind the mirror is a cable with a clip but no box. Is this where the remote receiver box should be?Thanks.

I have always been pretty much against registration.... just kidding. I don't have the slightest idea what that means. It smacks of dealer talk and I may eventually
have to bring it to the dealer. In an abundance of foolish avarice I have held off on doing that...I always assumed that the remote (hand held) was the transmitter and the receiver was in the truck.

I think the method is the important part. My information was telling me to open doors/turn keys and I was getting nowhere. Somebody here posted the one where you lock and unlock the door 5 times (twice) as part of the sequence and it worked like a charm.

I have noticed while trying every combination of synch methods on UTube that my '06 has no warning noise when door is opened with key in ignition. This leads me to wonder if
I am missing some of the mechanism and not just unsynched fobs. Any suggestions? Is there something under the dash or on the firewall that I should be looking for?

Most likely answer is just that your truck didn't come with keyless entry.

I am having a similar issue with my 06 double cab. It also came with a non working remote and I can not get the truck to learn it. I can get the truck into programing mode but no matter what I do it will not learn the remote. Any one have any ideas?

I tried everything on my 2005 and finally took it to a dealer...they did it for $25. On my 2006 I've bought one of these and I'm going to try and program it through techstream, but since I have one working fob, I haven't gotten around to it yet...

I was really hoping I could do It by myself but I may have to give in and take it to the dealer.

That Mini VCI for $35 seems like a steal but if I knew had to use it I probably would have gotten the doors synched by now. Way out of my lane. I build flintlocks in my spare time so that gives you an idea of my level technically. I will probably end up taking it to the dealer and won't be able to tell you what he did...
