916- this is a damn ambitious build.

I will be among the popcorn eaters. Thank you for documenting this. It has the makings of mainstay reference thread.

Idk if his helps. But I went with a ********* compete setup in my ‘17 crewmax and I absolutely love it. I went with the 2 - 12s option and it bangs. The amps perform really well and are rated at 1000 rms. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine

Oh I forgot to mention that ********* manufacture their own amps. They didn’t buy an amp and slap their logo on it

don't forget to use the blue wire on the sub amp. i didn't attach it at first and the amp would not power on.

I’m gonna do this also to my tundra. Have done it to my 4runner and it is day and night difference. You can avoid placing sound dampening all over by strategically placing patches in sections.

On my 4runner if you tap on my doors. It sounds solid, not like thin metal compared to a door that isn’t covered in sound dampening.

I’m aiming towards HushMat. Anyone ever heard of them ??

I have not heard of HushMat but I think Noico is the best bang for your bucks. I like the material so far.

Was under the weather yesterday so didn’t work on the truck much but as of this morning got most of the cabin sound deadened. This is a very tedious process. I do not enjoy it at all, but I’m sure it will be worth it. On to the doors.

Can you live broadcast your progress, cause i'd rather watch you work on your truck then to watch any other TV advertisement's. Sorry i meant tv shows if there's any.

Ken, I'm on my way over to your place with beer. We (you) can sound deaden my truck next!

One of these days I'll get around to it, especially if it can help keep the interior cooler. The heat here in Sacramento can be brutal.

Yes, got the steering wheel from ebay for $175. Hated the SR5 steering wheel.

Lol, man, I don’t want to touch another piece of sound deadener for awhile after this project. It’s brutal. I’ll lend you a hand if you decide to tackle this project

That's a lot of work. I went with the same box and matting, though I only matted the back and the doors. I didn't mat the roof and floor.

It is a lot of work but I know it will be worth it. You can always mat the floor for a later project. The roof was the most difficult

Are you able to tell a big difference in the noise? From what I understand, this type of matting mostly just stiffens the sheet metal and stops vibrations, and doesn't really sound proof.

I will test it out after I am done. I did a baseline decibel test and will make a comparison, but so far, the whole cabin and doors feel and sound solid. I will most likely add closed cell foam and mass loaded vinyl to the floor at some point.

How do you like the q power box?

I'm super happy with it. I bought some cheap pioneer shallow 10's to get me by until I could afford some JL 10TW3's, but it kicks enough with the Pioneer's that I might just keep them.

The only issue I had was the cutouts were a little small (the cutouts were 11 1/4 and the speakers needed 11 1/2) so I had to take a router and file to it so the pioneers would fit.

I went with Morel Hybrid 6 1/2" components for the doors and they sound awesome. I'm just using the stock dash speakers so far. I'm thinking about upgrading them, but I don't really want to run wires back to my seats.

For the front doors I used some Scosche SAT69 adapters and they worked fine. I cut holes in the sail panels for the tweets.

For the rear doors I bought some Scosche SAT6 adapters, and they wouldn't work for the 6 1/2s I got, so I just used the factory mounts and cut the old speaker out and screwed the new speakers into them. The tweeters were bigger than the factory tweeters in the rear door, so I cut the factory tweets out and filed the hole bigger so my new tweets would fit and just hot glued them in.

I screwed the crossovers into all 4 door panels where the armrest is and they fit in there fine.

I also used some Roadkill foam enhancers for the door speakers. I'm not sure if they make a difference or not.

Progress update: all doors are sound deadened. Amps, speakers, and subwoofers are installed. All wires are connected. I’m about to turn the system on for the first time. Here goes nothing.

It sounds amazing. Super crisp and clear and the subs hit hard and tight. I think the FOCAL components and subs are the star of the system. I’ll post some video maybe in a couple days and will write a full review later on. Need to put everything back together and clean my garage. I couldn’t be any happier guys!
