Xpipe location

What's the perfect spot for a xpipe?

 

This thread is ripe for a Ben Dover joke. @dirtydeeds might be able to help

 

If I recall correctly, I don’t think there’s room for one with those big ass mufflers in the way. There is room for an H pipe. What mufflers are you running? TRD exhaust?

 

Closest to engine as possible

 

No Trd exhaust just jba headers and 2 glass pack mufflers..feels like I lost back pressure.

 

As mentioned @dirtydeeds has a solution if you are not dead set on using those glass packs.

Best thing to do is find a highly recommended muffler shop that does custom work. I one have near me and was going to go the xpipe route. Can be done but not much room to spare depending on glass pack length. I went with a dual in dual out FlowMaster which has an internal x flow design which prevents any noticeable low end torque loss.

 

Yea, there doesn’t seem to be too many options unless you modify your midpipes as well. I have two magnaflows that are 14 in/20 in overall. My X is right at that middle crossmember. You can see in the second picture that I couldn’t really move it forward any further.

Keith at dirty deeds will make you a mandrel bent x-pipe for your dual exhaust tundra.he did for mine and it sounds and looks great!

 

That x pipe looks better than mines..I took it off because it was causing alot of lagging when I accelerated...they put it right before the glass pipe mufflers...I'll see if I put it back it really close to the engine.

Yup, the summit racing ones looks pretty decent, and they were around $100 a year ago when I was looking. Dr. Gas out of Utah is supposed to make some good ones, too. More expensive, though.

 

This. Ultimately, the available positions will dictate where you put it though. Having one is always better than not.

Backpessure is a myth. You never want backpressure, that implies restriction. What you’re looking for is scavenging and the pulses timed so that one side pulls the other. This is generally done with the opening of the x pipe.

Your exhaust is on point. If I ever get off my lazy ass and do mine, I’m taking cues off yours.

 

I ended up just doing an h pipe on my exhaust. Does quiet it down a bit tho.

Keith made the mandrel bent x-pipe for $150.00 It come in 5 pcs. So you can move the ends around where you need them.Excellent work on the bends and the welding. Sorry it took so long to get back to you!

 

Thanks man. My local shop in Vernal, UT made it. They did the entire catback in 3" tubing with dual Magnaflows. I definitely noticed performance gains, but I also did American Racing long tube headers right before, so I can't really say how much was due to the exhaust.
