Squeaking noise new tundra

I'm getting a squeak/whiny noise during acceleration on my brand new tundra. Loudest around 2000rpm. There's no noise when in neutral and stepping on the gas, and no noise when coasting. It's driving me nuts. I plan on taking it in when I have time but I have no idea what the noise could be when there's nothing worn down or needing replacement after only a couple thousand miles.

 

I have the same...usually underway. Sounds like a rubber bushing being compressed.

 

Dealer says it's the throttle body and it's magnified "10x" by my k&n air filter. My buddy has the same filter on his tundra and doesn't get the noise which is odd, but I guess there's nothing I can do.

 

Oh, I just dropped in a KN filter as well. and yes, getting a subtle whistling sound, like a window is just barely cracked open. That's a whole different squeal that blends in perfectly with the tinitus

 

I have the same issue with my new Tundra. At first it was very subtle but I have about 6,000 miles on my truck and it has gotten worse. I took it to the dealer and a service technician rode in it with me. He heard the noise but couldn't explain what caused it. I intend to take it back to the dealer when I have time but it won't be soon unfortunately. Honestly I can't stand the noise. Let me know if you find out what the cause of the noise is.

 

Apparently it's normal according to Toyota techs, and mine was worse because I have a k&n filter in there. Swapped the oem in and it was quieter but yea still there.

What if you didn't add a high flow air filter?

 

The whistle comes from the air flow over the throttle body blade when it is at the correct angle (throttle position). The screen that is shown in the link disturbs the laminar air flow prior to reaching the TB blade. It's similar to when you take a blade of grass between your thumbs and blow across it just right to make it whistle.

 

I noticed only after installing my TRD cai. Couldn't figure it out. I took it to the dealer, had a mechanic drive with me, and he heard it clearly too. After an hour of looking for the sound and trying to replicate it in the garage, the mechanic couldn't find the cause. But, he did go the extra mile and drove a new stock Tundra to see if it made the sound. He took me for a ride and we both had to listen carefully, but I heard the same sound, only very faintly. I'm no mechanic, but it seems the sound is amplified with more air being allowed to enter the throttle body. Found the solution on this forum, problem solved.

 

Today, for the the third time, I gave my local dealer a chance to stop the squeal in my 2015. It happens once I hit 1800 RPM but doesn't happen above 2200. It's a high pitched squeal that has a pitch which adjusts with the RPMs of the engine. The way it sounds, I thought it was a pinhole leak in the exhaust system, but after I rode around with a mechanic today, he has me thinking it is tied to the air intake system just as the others in this thread have postulated. He said this is the third truck he has run across with this problem, and his own 2014 does it too. Apparently the K&N filter may help it, but he said there are drawbacks to the K&N (the oil soaked filter wreaks havoc) and he doesn't recommend I do anything different. His hope is that Toyota will offer a fix...but more than likely it is a design flaw, and since few other have expressed the same problem, I don't have any hopes for a solution other than to listen to the radio more often.

 

I have 2015 tundra with 24k miles on it. I might have not notice the noise until recently when the truck idle. I took to the dealer and they say it the idler pulley, which they asking $400 to replace the idler pulley and the belt. I bring the truck home without fix over at the dealer. I replace the pulley with brand new idler pulley from the deal; the noise still there. I replace the tension pulley (from advance auto parts) and the noise still there. I replace the belt with brand new belt from advance auto parts. the noise still there; so I take off the belt and clean the fan pulley. I see a clean line (like the belt and pulley rubbing each other on the fan pulley while cleaning) the noise stop at idle. But I can still hear the noise when i accelerate; which i didn't heard when the truck is new. Has anyone find a solution to the issue. I not consider the fan pulley is what case the noise when acceleration or step on the gas to pass other truck.
