Found this tundra locally. 4wd but does have body issues. Just on driver side. 225k clean title.

I’m not well versed on what these are worth. My friend is looking for one and wants to know what a fair offer would be for it as is. Works great just has the body issues, which he is willing to live with and possibly fix down the road.

I just bought my 2003 extended cab 4x4 from a private owner with 239k for $5400. My body was very clean minus a few blemishes here and there. Interior very clean.

    What are they asking?

I can’t recommend carfax enough. I looked at 2 trucks with odometer fraud. One showed 130k, but really had closer to 350k.

Check both gas and brake pedal for excessive wear. Not 100% tell but on the one I looked at it was very clear. Also check if the vin is etched in all the windows. Easy to see if any windows may have been replaced other than the obvious dents.

I would check NADA and KBB but would also put in the exact stats of the vehicle, a mileage range within 10K of what's on this truck, and do a nationwide search on CarGurus. Just another tool to give you an idea what other trucks are selling for just like this one.

They are only asking 3900$. I think it’s a steal but he is all antsy about it. Wanted to get others opinions. I use to own a car shop so I know all about checking cars out. I’m going to test drive it again tomorrow and see if I can get him to pull the trigger.

Seems reasonable to me. Any stealer fee?

I'm a bit more anal than most here but that driver side looks really rough. I'm of the mindset that if someone is willing to neglect the body that badly, then what are they neglecting mechanically? Do you have any maintenance records for it? The timing belts on these trucks have to be done every 90K. Do you know the last time this one had it done? Figure $1000 for that job unless you do it yourself.

I'd offer them $2,800 and see what they say.

Great points. One more reason to get a carfax. Some people religiously service at the dealer others do not. Sometimes it picks it up, sometimes not.

The beauty of the 1st Gen engine (V8) is it can be beat up, within reason, and be brought back to a beautiful state. Body work be damned! Just make sure the transmission and engine aren’t to far gone.

Does it have a salvage title? Being in Utah, what does the frame rust look like? I would offer low 3's and see what they say, but even $3900 seems like a deal. It would be gone in a second in CA.
