We all know which truck is #1... but who's second best?

I just had a spirited conversation with a friend of mine about who's truck is better. I told him his truck wasn't even second best. So let's see...

Everything considered- pricing, reliability, styling, power, etc... if you didn't have a Tundra, which other one of these trucks would you buy???

Well I like that Gmc Denali, but I came across a Roush SC F-150, 600+ hp, so yeah probably the SC F-150.

I'd buy a ford. Won't catch me in a Chevy again.

For what it's worth, Toyota doesn't rate their trucks by 1/4 ton, 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, etc.

Have you seen the new Chevy commercials where they drop a load in the bed? Ford had holes in the aluminum. Pass............Although Why put up with Dodge crap?

Don't care about second best......or otherwise known as 1st loser. I'm abstaining on this vote.

LOL... Come on Matt. No one's gonna make you give up your truck and buy one of these. Purely hypothetical. I'm especially curious what truck some of the more serious off-roaders would be driving if not a Tundra.

LOL.I'm serious as hell. I've owned all of the so called "big three" trucks over the years. "Serious off roaders". I'll be taking my Tundra once again where I seem to come across JPs or FJs. I didn't have to spend a small fortune to get where I'm going. Quite frankly where I go, folks have been going there for decades without $$$ suspensions. I'm thinking most are doing it for looks.

I flat out would not own any other light duty truck, period. Tundra or go home. If I need something more than what the tundra can offer...then I wouldn't go to any of the 1/2 ton manufactures.

If I had to pick any other manufacturer in the 1/2 ton class, I'd go with Ford despite my hesitations over the aluminum body. That Ecoboost has some get up and go. As far as I'm concerned with the others: Dodges are junk, the standard engine Chevys and GMCs are nutless (my work pickup is a GMC :(), the body style on the Titan is just too weird for my liking and there's next to no Nissan dealers near me. If I had to pick another pickup I'd probably just go up a class and buy a Duramax or a Powerstroke, despite the fact that I really don't need a diesel.

My GMC was a huge pile of fuck. No balls, like, worse than my lifted Tacoma with 5k lbs behind it. Shook like a bastard above 70mph, and dealer/gmc didn't know why (thanks for $3500 trade assist offer to buy ANOTHER pile of fuck, but no thanks). My dad had a 2014 ram and it had a lot of sack, got good mpgs too... he leased it and turned it in after the lease because he just didn't want the payment ($179) - old timer. He liked it a lot, and would buy another one. Honestly, I drove a rebel before buying my tundra and almost signed papers for it. I just have too much love for these tundras. I'm not gonna say it's the most powerful, or most comfortable truck out there, that rebel with the 8 speed would probably hand most of us our asses, but the history of the ram sucks. Resale of the ram sucks because they already are cheap. I love the rock warriors and they're hard to find around me, especially with low mileage and in really good shape. So, I'm back in a tundra, after taking a decent hit on that pile of fuck gmc. But... ram would be my second choice right now.

New 1/2 ton? Besides the Tundra, no way.
I wouldn't mind having a fully restored older Chevy as a toy though. My old winter rig when I lived in Idaho was an 83 Chevy 1500 with 6 inch lift, deer grille guard and 35's and that thing was unstoppable. The older Chevy 350's are reliable and even if they do break, there is a million of them so parts are cheap.
Now everyone knows how big of a redneck I was/am :anonymous:

Me, I've always wanted an old 80's early 90's bronco 4x4 just to mess around in. I miss manual trannies sometimes.

First thing I did was to take a jig saw and cut out the rear fender sheet metal and put on some "early"ABS fender flares. Was easy to swap in the headers. Took the Bronco out on a sound check (before I put on the C bombs) and got pulled over by an Oregon State Trooper. Explained what I was doing and only got a warning. The only warning I've ever gotten. Too cool for a ticket I guess.

Sierra of course> Denali version. The only other truck I'd consider. Period..... If I ever went that route it would be HD Diesel. (not a 1/2 ton, but that's the only way I'd go other than my Tundra which is a keeper)
