I know this topics been literally beat to death... sorry.

I have a 2016 TRD package with bilstein 5100s up front on the top setting. Everything I've read on forums says to put on a diff drop even though it's a small lift to save my cv joints, it's cheap, etc. I actually bought one to install already as well. I took my truck in for another issue and he recommended against putting on a diff drop unless I was going to be doing serious off-roading on a regular basis. He said the occoasial weekender 4x4ing not to worry about it.

Would love to hear the reason why you wouldn't want to maintain the stock geometry

I did ask why he said not to and his reply was that it only really makes a difference if I'm fully articulating the suspension regularly. He said the occasional off roading miiiight force a little grease from the cv boot (which seemed like a good reason to put it on to me...) but that it wasn't really an issue.

I already have it, I'll be throwing it on when I have some time I guess.

If it were more expensive then i would say yes you could save the money and not install it and be ok.
Since its only around $30 it is a good way to help with cutting down on premature wear.
Its not going to hurt anything to install it.

Anyone can do it. For the Tundra it's not really a true drop, it really just pivots the front of the diff down. The rear of the diff stays attached and pivots from bushings. If I remember correctly.
