A cheap battery can drop a cell at any time. It will still power everything but wont provide enough cold cranking amps to turn the engine unless it has all the cells working.

The True Starts are better than what comes from the factory. 84 month is pretty decent.

It really sucks that these batteries just fail without much or any warning. In the old days as a battery would start to get week, you would know it because you would start to hear it in the starter, as a slower crank when starting.
More apt to get get stranded these days...... :(

Yep...that last thing you need is to have a battery that is the weakest link..

I agree. I have an Interstate in my Subaru at 49 months it was hard cranking on colder days. I knew it was starting to fail took it to Interstate they hooked it up and said yep it was going bad prorated it for 50/50 and I walked out with a new battery , without having been stuck.

Side note to all of this. As I stated earlier I used Toyota road side service that came with my extended warranty. they dispatch a local company to do the jump start. A younger male shows up in a dodge SUV no markings, with no uniform of any kind and pulls a jump pack out of the back and I am on my way. Other than looking like a thugs he was polite and courteous. ten minutes prior to his arrival he called to tell me he was ten minutes out. The number he called from was a VA number, which I did not delete. At 11:40 PM last night I was asleep and my phone rang. I didn't look at the number just answered it. On the other end was some jackass who gave a name and said he was part of homeland security and he was downstairs in my house. (yes I have a two story house) I told him he picked the wrong house and went downstairs to be sure it was bullshit. I hung up and the phone rang again with a hang up. I looked at the number and it was the same number as the person who responded and jumped the Tundra. This morning I called The road service helpline and informed them of the incident. WTF

WTF. Not cool - what did the road service rep say about it? Did you try to call the guy back after the hang up? That is crazy...

Get you an optima red top. I’ve had one in an older car that’s 12 years old and still going strong.

also side note. If you ever jump or jumper pack your truck and then you can drive it home or drive it somewhere your alternator is ok. However a bad battery can take out an alternator if you wait long enough to replace the battery.

FWIW, I have a 2017 and had this weird whirring noise. Turned out to be alternator (65k miles give or take). Before figuring it out, I searched the forums and found a few guys with same noise, and several with alternator going out sooner than would be expected. Your truck is much newer but just thought I'd mention.

Also, I keep one of these in all of my cars, my wife's car and daughter's car....
