Hey guys new member here. Just bought a 2019 tundra limited with leather trim, had no clue the leather was different on the limited vs the platinum when I bought it, my mistake but too late now. So my issue is my seats... I hate/loathe these seats so far. I’ve had the truck a month and so far have had constant back pain from strained muscles, even after driving it 5minutes. I saw a thread posted on this where the guy added foam and this and that etc and I called an upholstery shop here and they said absolutely we won’t touch it since the seats have airbags. Honestly all I feel these need is some of the padding trimmed down, it hits right in the middle of my back and pushes my spine out. So my question is, what’s the best option? Give it 6 months or so? Leather conditioner? Add some kind of seat cushion? Trim them myself? I’m 6’0 210lbs.

Damn I really like my seats. The Ram I had before had THE MOST narrow seats on earth and it used to dig into my legs.

Sorry to hear they don’t fit the bill for you!

I'm not aware of the Tundra seats having airbags. They do have sensors in the seat. Anyways, it is easy to remove the leather from the seats. It's held on with hog rings and zippers.

I would unplug your ground to your battery before removing the wires from the seat though.

I don't get why they don't have lumbar support adjustment . My wife's camery does.

I hated my 2018 Limited seats as well, and they didn't get better as time went on. I sat in a 2019 SR5 with cloth seats a while ago and it was much more comfortable. My current 2010 SR5 seats are more comfortable as well.

I will say my last truck was a ram 2500 with cloth seats that I got at 124,000 miles, so maybe I’m just not use to new seats ‍♂️.

Nope. I know some people say they're comfortable, so maybe it's just my body type (6'4" 230), but they never were comfortable to me for the 16 months I owned it.

I have a 2018 Limited and I too thought the seats were too hard at first. I just rolled 10k miles and I find they are more comfortable now, even more so than my Tahoe. I drive 8 hours 2x per month and I am about the same height/weight as you with lower back issues. I thought I was going to need a cushion too but it seems to feel fine now, but make it work for you as there is nothing worse than uncomfortable seats.

I also just purchased a set of neoprene coverking seat covers from costco to protect seats from kiddos for awhile. The extra padding did make the seats a little more comfortable. There is another member on here that had similar issue and I think he removed the center seat rod and did something else to the seat that seems to have solved his issues.

Glad to hear they got better for ya. I’ll probably pull the leather this week and see what I can do. They make these trucks to last so long it wouldnt surprise me if they used a hard foam that just needs time.

The leather needs to break in to soften up some. My 1794 seats weren't super comfortable new but are much better after a year. My 08's cloth seats were great from day 1.

I love my Limited seats. [I like them better than the Platinum, and there is some difference. The Limited seats are more firm, I think; I feel like I sit up higher. Maybe, it's my imagination.]

Anyway, they are super comfortable to me.

A LOW cushion behind your lower back might help you ...

None....yet few decals and a five star dragon Ball. Lift 4.5" in two years is the plan
I got the cloth seats but I'm about as refined as crude oil. Sorry your unhappy maybe they will wear in.

They are not different seats. Just different leather. I drive a 1794 and five minutes later drove the limited off road I ended up buying. Felt and looked exactly the same just different color.

I mean i am just taking a shot in the dark so to speak....but i am pretty sure that there are custom shops that could change out that leather...which i think is the issue. I broke my tailbone 20yrs ago and it never heals. My car has a "tougher" leather and has not softened to this day (owned 5 yrs) . The same exact model of my car from 2004 had leather seats that were 100% better. I could drive all day in that car. I can only make it bout 200 miles in my car that i own now. Which is the reason i bought a platinum. I would either call or get online and find a shop to see your options. Or get some platinum seats from a junkyard maybe and have those installed.

My 2007 sr5 has lumbar support, it's a switch further back. I don't see why the limited wouldn't, maybe see if it's on your sheet for the options involved

They are different, have different adjustments, padding, and leather is much different. Platinum also had adjustable under knee support that makes a huge difference. I rode in my buddies limited and loved the truck and wanted to trade my Tacoma for a tundra so bad but the seats held me back from doing so.....until I test drove a platinum. The difference was remarkable. I also have severe lumbar spine issues.

My cloth SR5 seats are o.k., but I had a '06 Double Cab Lucchese Edition that had Liquigel under the leather seats and it was the most comfortable seats I have ever had in a truck.

I have been looking for leather seats to replace my cloth seats and @Touch-Ups recommended the Alea premium leather seats as being the closest to my old liquigel seats.
