Spotter Mirrors installed

Hello Tundra family! For quite some time I've had 1 1/2" spot mirrors stuck to my mirrors to watch my blind spots. I never really liked how they looked, the small image left alot to be desired and I just couldn't justify a set of tow mirrors. A few days ago I was perusing IG and found Spotter Mirrors. They looked like what I'd been wanting and the price was right so I ordered a set (they are available individually). Ordered on Saturday and they were on my porch today via USPS. Installation was easy. A wide plastic trim tool and some masking tape did the trick and in about 15 minutes both were on. They have plenty of adjustment, heated like the factory glass and they're very solid. Check 'em out.

Good for pulling a trailer? Thought about those lame extender mirrors, but yours look good.

 

I think it would depend on the width of the trailer but it seems like they would work. I've only had them on for a day so I'm still playing with adjustments and trying to get the best view.

Ok, so are you saying the new OEM tow mirrors i just bought from Toyota were not needed for my new trailer? Keep us posted on how they work for you and your thoughts..

 

Not necessarily. If I was pulling a bigger trailer I would still want the OEM tow mirrors. A 16' aluminum fishing boat is the extent of my towing and I think these will be fine for that.

 

So is the big part of the mirror for looking down the side of your truck and being able to spot the curb, and the smaller part for spotting traffic in the lane next to you and further back?

 

Yup, exactly. The smaller mirror is convex.

 

So does the smaller mirror work with the controller inside the truck or must that be set manually?

 

It needs to be adjusted manually to your preference. It's attached to the same backing plate though, so it will move with the larger mirror if you use your power adjustment.

I’ve had a set for a while. They’re great and look good as well. Way better than those ugly stick on spot mirrors.

I think you missed it. Go to the website and email them. There is a link to contact them and ask them to notify you of savings codes. That's how I was made aware of the Black Friday weekend code, plus they mirrors are on sale on top of it.

Installed today, Quality mirrors. Really took some force to unhook the new ones. I could not get them loose with a plastic pry tool I had so used a piece of aluminum bracket from a wall coat hanger. They installed nicely an d work as OEM but do give a nice convex wide view with the extra mirror. I'll try out on the highway this weekend and towing as soon as the snowmobile trails open up. So far my impression is that they are quality and a nice improvement over the OEM Mirror view. I'll have to try the heating element as well to make sure they melt off ice/snow.

How’s the quality of the mirror? Are they clear?

 

Installed per instructions. Takes a pretty good lift to pop the mirrors off on my 2010. Thought I was going to break them. Once I got them off (started with a plastic pry tool, then escalated to a piece of aluminum which worked) the install was easy. Hooked up the 2 heat wires and popped the mirrors down into place. They look great, just as good as OEM. I was on the highway today and had great visibility of the blindspot and area along side my truck which I need to see for towing. It took a little tweaking of the outside convex mirror but once set works great. I had some convex rectangular stick on mirrors that I recommend if you have nothing to enhance the blind spot, but these mirrors give you a bigger better view. I do like the manual viewing to confirm not traffic in the blind spot, and since this vehicle of ours does not have BSM, it's a great improvement. I used to adjust the mirrors to cover the blind spot, but then you miss the towing view so these mirrors cover both. So far very happy with these mirrors. What I cannot predict is long term durability, but the seem to be constructed like the OEM mirrors so hope they hold up.

 

Spotter mirrors installed, per instructions, took about 30 minutes, will run wiring, for signals later, I must admit the view, was my concern, and I’m very pleased, no vibration to report

 

I already had wiring for my red Muth mirrors, but I needed amber signals.
I had a vibration with the driver's Muth mirror.
But it is gone since installing these.
Love the convex mirror.

The amber signal isn't as bright as the red Muth, but I'm fine with it.
I needed the amber to match my Hotshots rear amber turn signal..

I think I like the shape of these better than the OPs choice.... And they have amber turn indicators built in!?! These are long trucks to lack an indicator on the side somewhere.

Me likey. I shall go look at them.

These would also force me to install the VLED puddle lights I have had sitting on a shelf in the garage.
