Software Update

same here. but i can't find anything solid for my '17 sequoia with rear entertainment system compatible. sucks big time. i can get aftermarket head unit but will loose the rear dvd function.
plus google map you can also download offline map so you won't get lost even if your phone doesn't have signal. the paid maps are "ok" but not that good. i used the one that came with my sequoia and i'm not impress at all.

 

Crazy question. What would stop someone who had the most up to date map card do an image dump of it and give it to anyone else who could then write that image to their sd card? On my '15 Limited the maps show they are from like '14 or something like that. I have been looking for a map update and how to do it but it looks like the only way to do it is updating the card itself.

I'm not 100% sure that I have all the right info, but I believe this is why.

 

Nice write up! So all that to say "it ain't gonna be easy". Especially after the last post in that thread. Sounds like a challenge!




But I'll probably end up just buying the ebay card too. I have too many other projects to try this one also.

I'm literally sitting at the TOYOTA dealership (waiting for them to update it) where they told me this isn't possible to do yourself. Thinking about setting the building on fire. *Should have Googled FIRST.

 

2014 Tundra I have tried 2 different USB drives and cannot get the head unit to update. Any ideas???

 

At what point is it unsuccessful ?

Think those are by purchase only and hard coded to the SD serial number. There is a way to change the SN on some SD cards so you could buy one a share it to others.

 

Just downloaded update and installed on my 2014, lets see if this works

 

So 2 days without a reset or freeze up, so far its looking good

 

Sitting in the dealership now waiting for the update. Cost was $85 waiting to see any changes
will update.
