    Howdy,

Supposedly the dealer has possession of the exact Tundra I want (TRD Off Road) and I pick up on Monday. THE most thoroughly researched vehicle I've ever bought so sure I'll be pleased.

That said what are some performance or accessories or maintenance you guys find "necessary"? Not day one particularly but as I go along.

Things I quickly did to my Tacoma were:

    AFE Air filter
Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valve (LOVE these!)

Over in Tacoma world it seemed the majority of new Tacoma's were quite low on transmission oil! Is that a concern with Tundras? I assume a similar temperature with over fill drain how it's checked. PITA but I guess more accurate than the 10 foot long floppy dip stick I had in my 4Runner :D.

BTW Local salesman got screwed as he insisted on playing games. Came in with 3.49 apr loan approval and knew basically what I wanted. 5 days of refusing to address requests. Used wrong model Tacoma for trade in; used a 4.9 apr to crunch numbers, speaking Espanol to manager when I approached as-if; ¡no entiendo! :D ... I called another dealer and he found the same model and had delivered with a "handshake" over the phone. Took my numbers and an hour later presented me a very reasonable deal! By the time the local guy got of his butt it was gone... To Me!

    Thanks!

Change your tires and sell the stock. With that said, I’d recommend doing research on a set of tires you want

Just a Bed Rug and Snugtop XTRA Vision
The first thing I did was ask a question and set a goal. Question, "does this fit my needs as it sits right now." Goal: make the answer YES. So I put a BedRug bedliner on it, then a Snugtop cap, and am now revising/updating my emergency tool and first aid kits. Once better tires are on it, it will be adventure vacation camping ready.

As for tires, mine is a 4x4, and I play in the endless sand and loose over hardpack out here in SoCal and venture all around the SW/NW but nothing that a stock truck with a smart driver can't handle. The stock Michelin ATs (if that's what yours has) are great on the road and have good traction in the wet (which we had a lot of this winter). Also quiet and soft soccer mom ride. If this fits you then keep 'em. If you are out in the sand or mud forget 'em they suck. Gonna put Duratracks on mine shortly.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Window tint, performance air filter and performance exhaust are always top on my list. Then step bars. Thanks to this wonderful site, I'm looking at Bilstein shocks and tires now. For this truck, I'm trying to stick with OEM/Toyota and TRD parts only.

If you ask 100 different truck owners what should be upgraded first, you'll get 100 different answers. Figure out what is important to you and what you want your truck to do for you and start there.

Start by logging off of this site and never coming back. There are so many neat things going on here that it's hard to keep track. It's easy to get sucked into a direction that's fun, but maybe not practical for every day.

My favorites so far that I've done are the forward camera (I can't remember the acronym, sorry FLAC or something like that), Line X in the bed and shit canning the offensive plastic chrome BS inside and out.

Coilovers will happen when the stock tires are worn out. I can't afford to do suspension, wheels and tires right now anyway.

Addressing the stereo is a huge want but I can't justify doing that just yet. I'd also like to get a tonneau cover. It's all in due time.

Husky Floor Mats, Diamond back lid, Coverking seat covers, More gas.
I went with a set of Husky floor mats, some covering seat covers from Costco, and a diamondback 270 tonneau. Mostly you need gas money and cool places to go... I don't mod my trucks, but they get used everyday and take me cool places to get more outdoor time. They pull trailers and haul materials. Just use it and get out there. I guess I threw a TSC stall mat in the bed for some protection too.

BEST ADVICE SO FAR! Keep in mind this is coming from a guy that is working on a write up about having your tailgate open automatically from your key fob.......

    Best useful advice so far^^^.
    Console Divider- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07799V1WX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've tried two different console trays- First I got this one- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KI3P26K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It kept hanging up on the sides and generally pissing me off. THen I got this one and it makes me much happier- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079BY6BKY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Don't know if yours came with bed lights or not. If not, that's what I'll recommend. And maybe some LED interior bulbs- the OEM leave a lot to be desired.

I suggest an exhaust upgrade (Dirty Deeds Group buy going on right now), tonneau cover, and window tint as a start. Congrats on the truck!

    Congrats on the new truck!
I would recommend the Console divider and tray as posted by @ncorry above. Those are cheap and easy to do, and make a huge difference in setting your truck up from the start.
I did not see from your post if you are getting a Double cab or Crew Max. If you are getting the Crew Max, I would recommend the storage tray under the rear seats.
Husky Liners are a must-have also.

Then as you use the truck, you will get a feel for the bigger items needed - bed liner is good if the truck did not come with it, step bars if you or others riding with you need the step to get in. Wheels and tires are usually a preference thing and not really needed for a lot of people on here. Some do go off-road and need better tires, but I would recommend running the OEM set down and then by that time you will know if you want to get a lift kit, better tires, bigger wheels etc.

The console organizer was a must for me. They are cheap and make the console a lot easier to use .

I bought some toughskinz cupholder inserts that include a pad for the top of the center console. Makes dropping my phone in there a much softer landing . https://www.tufskinz.com/product/in...s-2014-toyota-tundra-bucket-seats-7-piece-kit

Husky weather-beater floor mats from Matt, member eccracer104 and got a discount from him from Auto anything.com .

The list goes on but it's easy to add more as time and money allow .:spending: .Staying off the site for a few days saves money also . But then it seems I miss out on a group buy and then I kick myself relentlessly. :(

Another vote for console organizer and tray. Unless you need to keep a basketball in there.

I'd also be interested to know if the tranny fluid level is an issue.

First two things I’d order is a Locker Down Console Safe and a tonneau cover. Then spend some time using and researching. All depends on what the long term use will be like.

    Thanks1

This is the kinda stuff I wanted to hear. Sure tires will come later. I'll be towing mostly and the tow guys ALL recommend small low profile stiff wall tires to cut down any sway motion. I doubt I will go to that extreme but will see how the stock work out and upgrade next cycle.

    Thanks,

    Greg

For me it was coilovers to lift front, pro grille (hate chrome), headlights (halogens suck), grab handle (don't need or like step rails), Clazzios. Component speakers, amp, sub cam later. I should have not waited to upgrade stereo. Fortunately mine came with KO2s so no worry about tires. Almost forgot leds in fogs, interior, and bed light. Bed light leds are great. No need for any other bed lighting.

There is no comparison to the Tacoma and even this forum compared to Tacomaworld. This is a much more "grownup" crowd lol.
I have put 7K on my truck in two months and you truly don't need anything except making it your own with wheels or stickers etc. Have fun!

No need to change the whole blinker, just changing the fluid will do wonders...the stock stuff sucks..

Well, 'yota shorted you a driver's side grab handle, so do that first. It's a satisfying, easy and small mod that will give you pause to consider what you really want...

... and your wallet! Set your priorities, and get 'em done.

BEST ADVICE EVER!!! I have spent like $10k on my truck in the 9 months I’ve owned it, and never thought that would be the case. But I sure do love it...

Some of my favorites would be:
    1. Dirty Deeds exhaust
    2. Katzkin leather seats with heated and cooled options.
    3. Coachbuilder roof rack with 13 rigid pods
    4. Amp research steps
