    3" suspension lift 305/55R20 w/2"spacers
    Hello All,

    Anyone using cold air intakes? What brand would you recommend. I have a 2013 MGM Tundra XSP-X with the 4.6. I am slowly working my way through modifications. Just did a 3" suspension lift with 305/55R20 tires and 2" spacers, LED headlights and driving lights and new led fog lights.

    I've read a lot of conflicting information regarding CAI's on these trucks. I believe that people said the Tundras already come with some form of CAI from the factory. Lots of people claim the CAI didn't add any improvement to their trucks.

    6" lift kit 35" tires with cold air intake and exhaust
    CAI on mine just a drop in k&n. Not much of a gain. Most on here will say for a good gain do long tube headers and exhaust.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
    Welcome from East TN. Both the Tacoma and Tundra have a really good OEM air intake design. I personally don't see a point in spending $400 for little to no gains. Your best bet is to just get a drop in K&N or TRD filter (same thing really). If you want to be a fancy pants, get the TRD air flow accelerator while you're at it.

    I am using a K&N air filter and I put in the Toyota air accelerator. So it is basically a CAI and a lot cheaper.

    Yep...did the same with my 2010 Taco. I do like the S&B cai only because S&B has super great filters but will set you 3 bills.

    On my previous Tundra I had the AFE kit that used the factory airbox, and added a drop in filter and replaced the section between the airbox and throttle valve

    I had Volant installed but now it's for sale.....I did my own TRD air flow accelerator with Trd filter and second filter removal ......I just also added my own SABM ......all this much better than buying a aftermarket air intake and also performance is better

    I just installed aFe magnum stage 2 intake last weekend. So far it sounds better than stock. I feel a low end and throttle response improvement. Seems ok. I bought it because it was used and cheap ($160) and my oem filter was ready for a replace. I have the box lid on and will continue to run it as such. I also bought a outerwear prefilter for extra protection.

    Lost track after #1.
    CAI's are typically part of an entire suck/bang/blow system upgrade. They're just not worth it as a standalone upgrade.

    I imagine it’s somewhat of a post-filter but it’s not intended. It’s supposed to keep any fumes from entering the atmosphere when you shut the truck off by absorbing them in the charcoal.

    I didn’t really notice any gains but I removed it anyways.

    The only drawback that I can think of is if you lived in Kommiefornia and an OCD smog check "attendant " lifted the air box cover and violated you.......

    I'm sorry...heh...heh...seriously...technically you can't mess with emissions crap in Cali. Lots of great members here live in Cali and temporarily get around "things". I'd never recommend "breaking the law".....que in Judas Priest now....

    Anybody with stock airbox and a bully dog programmer wanna throw up some mass air flow numbers and air intake temperatures to prove that stock is better? Don’t forget to include out side temp too. And the ppl with cai can throw up their numbers too.
