Another thing, even without tuning it, as soon as you plug it in, it sounds 3x louder and clearer.

I got a used kenwood excelon 99002s head unit today for $200, it was android auto which is nice, but I do have to plug my phone into the usb for that. I'm just happy that I'll have pandora and spotify control via the head unit now so I dont have to mess with my phone in the truck.
I really am impressed with these new speakers and sub but the head unit has gotten to me, I think if toyota didn't ditch the pandora app I would have just kept it.
I also have a JL audio amp 300/4 that I can wire up to run all the speakers from 2 channels and bridge the sub on the other 2 channels of I want to rather than run all the doors from the head unit. I will probably go the route of the amp for sound and get a maestro unit for steering wheel controls, connectivity, and obd screens.

I don't understand why not having Pandora on the head unit is a problem, if you can always stream it through your phone. Maybe it's just personal but I hate using the head unit to navigate through stuff.

Because I do not touch my phone when I drive. My best friend was killed by a girl who was texting and since that day I refuse to touch my phone when I'm driving. Yes I can stream it and I turn it on but I refuse to control it my using my phone. And in CT it's illegal to use your phone when driving, only voice controls and bluetooth are legal. It's a huge ticket, as it should be for distracted driving and risking lives

This is a very odd point for me to make, given the situation, but touching the screen of your center console is just as dangerous, if not more than touching your phone.

Not at all. The screen is bigger, easier to see and touch, dont even need to look down like you do with a phone.

Distracted Driving has always been the #1 Killer on the road since the day vehicles were invented, and texting/driving falls under that category along with using your touchscreen. Can't begin to count the times I've swerved on the road because I'm trying to find something on the head units screen.

Non-JBL dash speaker wiring: I searched forever for this and couldn’t find it for us non-JBL guys. Probably because it becomes glaringly obvious when you look at the speakers, anyways, for those who care.

Center channel: blue is right pos, gray is right neg, red is left pos, black is left neg
Corners are just standard red pos, left neg

    No crazy splicing, crossing, etc...

    For reference, I have a 2018 SR5 non-JBL and installed JL C1 tweeters only.

I think post 142 and 144 in the Amp group buy thread had good pictures of that.

Of all the pictures attached, this one gave me the most guidance, I think.

Running the power to the battery through the grommet was the most difficult part of the entire job. Everything else was easy.

ANother tip for those looking to do this themselves, you don't have to remove the seat from the truck, just unbolt it and tilt it backwards. Plenty of room, and you avoid disconnecting the terminals under the seat and carrying the seat out and scratching stuff.

Annnnnnd she is done. The highs and mids are wonderful!!! I'll be honest. I'm disappointed in the stealthbox. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price. The lows could be better but guess we're limited to shallow mount subs.

    Awesome!!!!
With the size of the box, I'm happy with mine.
I lightly thought about trying to have a box made for two of the shallow 13.5"ers and powered by a hd1200

I talked to James today and I'm sure annoyed the hell out of him with questions. But as always he was super helpful and very upfront and honest.
He gave me great instructions on how to get my new headunit and amp installed. Gave me a parts list of what I'll need and even told me where I could get a better price than going thru him.
Soon I will have all these group buy speakers and sub powered by a older JL audio 300/4 amp, ran through a new to me kenwood stereo with a maestro RR. The dual center JL tweeters and dash speakers will be powered by the head unit itself, doors and sub will run via the amp.
I can't wait to have this all done.

Got my HU delivered today. Debating on utilizing the “free” installation from the geek squad, or sourcing all the parts and doing it myself. Care to share the info James gave you?12C8CC90-3BA6-4BBC-A560-3ADFA07F65A1.jpg

Do it yourself. Hardest part is going to be making your harness from the headunit to the mmr. Crutchfield will make them for you for $25. Configure your maestro mmr on your computer and then it's just pulling your old radio out, plug everything in and putting the new one in.

I'm sure James could do the same for you too

Not sure if it's all the same for your pioneer as for my kenwood but I needed about $200 worth of stuff. I got..

    Maestro RR ads mrr
    TO2 Maestro cable
Antenna adapter metra 40 lx 11
    9 conductor speed wire
    Dash kit metra 99 8252
Amp power kit , 4 gauge power and ground
2 sets of RCA cables , you'll need 3 sets for a 5 channel amp
If you wanna keep navigation and/or XM radio antenna you'll need a sat to2 adapter, I didn't get this, I'll use phone/android auto for nav.
If you wanna keep OEM usb outlet you'll need a usb adapter, I didnt do this because the factory usb with adapter won't run android auto so I'll use the usb cable from the headunit for this
