1st Gen sway bar link options

New to the forum, so if I'm posting this incorrectly then my bad.

I have been trying to find any all options for some good sway bar quick disconnects. I have found another tundra member on here with a diy that I like but would like to see other options and/or opinions. I'm very curious if something like what's pictured below would work. Seems like a very viable options if the mounting would be close to the 1st Gen tundra.

Thanks, I have seen this setup my biggest concern is when this is disconnected you are unable to fold the long part of the sway bar link out of the way.

 

I'm a newb. What would be the reason or needing to quickly disconnect the sway bar?

 

With the sway bar disconnected it will allow for better articulation. Better wheel to ground contact is the ultimate goal/reason for the disconnects.

 

What 03 tundra said. More in depth it makes it so on uneven terrain if your left front wheel goes up, the sway bar will push up on the right side too. So with it disconnected none of the weight transfer happens and they can articulate completely independent.

 

You can probably get something like that to work. As far as the end link I made my sway bar swivels up far enough out of the way so in full Flex I have no issue. The heim joint at the bottom will also swivel down giving you a few inches more room. Although I do have an aftermarket sway bar. It came with my 6 inch lift. Try disconnecting your end links and seeing how much movement up and down you have on the sway bar. This will give you a good idea of how much room you have.

 

Ok good to know!! I also think that some Jeep aftermarket sway bar links may work for the 1st Gen tundras, like pictured below.

 

I'm new to this forum, but not new to Toyota's. I've been making sway bar links for 4runner's, Tacoma's,, and GX's for the past 4+ years. Below are some of the links I've made, and would love to be able to help out members on this forum. I'll try to get on here daily to check on this, and get one of my own threads going with some more information.

I just did my sway bar end links, but if I had known about your stuff I would have went through you. Looks like great stuff!

I would be curious to see some pricing if you would post that in this thread for the 1st gen tundras.

Pricing should be $180 shipped for non-disco front links with yellow zinc tubes, and disco's would be $200 shipped with yellow zinc tubes. Adding powder coat would be $20 extra, and heim boots would be $20 as well. Keep in mind that's my pricing for 4runner's and Tacoma's though. Assuming the same size parts are used that would be pricing for Tundra's as well. But, if I'm able to jump up a size in heim joints, and tubes. That pricing "might" go up a little, but most likely not much.
