Oh, no! Monet, I'm so sad I missed this thread! Has this rust spread and disintegrated your entire truck?!! If not, get some new rock sliders ASAP!!!

 Had to try. I know I'm late and this is probably resolved by now. I'll read through the thread to get up to speed.

Well, I realized using a broom handle to get rust cleaned on towels won’t work cuz it would involve taking off tires. New plan was to tie rope around towels and run cleaner and protectant thru tubes. Have not done yet, am concentrating costs to suspension then sliders for sure.

Tony @fisherman951 and I are going to visit a few banks to...umm, make some withdrawals. How fast can you drive your truck??

If u can’t replace- wire brush caps- spray with rustoleum and seal with silicone

Your water might be getting in under step pads- the plastic tread piece probably has a nipple on bottom that goes into a hole in bar-
U could take apart and slicone the connection/.tread , but u will never get it back off! o_O JM2C

    Good luck

Yeah I got it cleaned off and it’s mostly dirt around the orig seals. I found black silicone, just need to clean off inside fine step and put protective coating before caps go back on. No holes and not falling apart, steps are still solid. Thanks for your $.02! :)

I have the Westin bars. They are sealed, except where the tops snap in. I tapped a hole about an inch forward of the weld in rear bottom. About 3 gallons came out of one.
