I live in the USA. I don't take interest in what Egyptians do. I'll buy what I want.

That article would be more interesting if they explained why a new car cost ten years salary. Is the problem in Egypt low salaries, high taxes on cars, or what?

If they can’t afford it, is it really a boycott?

Currency inflation seems to be the biggest driver. Not really anything individuals can do here.

Yes. Let's do this for rolls Royce, Lamborghini, Ferrari and such. Those cars have a price tag that is way too high! They need to lower the prices so everyone can buy one...:bananadead:

Actually I think it’s more about the governments taxes that drive the costs up. For example you can buy a new BMW 5 series for about $65k here in the USA. The same car outside of Germany is roughly $120k. That’s why when going to the auctions here in the states. A lot of cars that are bought are being exported out of the US and sent overseas.

I've been on a new car boycott my whole life. I don't need the assurance of brand new because I can fix cars myself. Plus I have no interest in paying a high price for the immediate value drop when I can buy a 2 year old car at 75% of original sticker price or a 5 year old car at under half price.

I hope things get better for them, in that economy a new car is foolish.

The point I was trying to make is that car/trucks, in general, aren't priced based on what it cost to make and how much a company is comfortable selling it for but rather what the American consumers are willing to pay to get one. 5 year to 8 year's loan for a consumer to get one sure. 0% financing with 0 down why not. Does it really cost 52K for a platinum trim Tundra? Do you really think Toyota is struggling for the model year that they offer rebates, absolute not? There's a statical strategy behind the rebate to see how many more consumers are willing to jump on an X amount of loan on a little 2K/3K hand out. I

A Toyota land cruiser offered in the U.S cost starting at $85,015.00 however same Land Cruiser in Japan start at 6,847,200 yen = $61,445.13 USD* but in the U.S, we're paying an extra $23,570 USD WHY because America consumers are willing to put themselves into debt to buy one, both the dealer and the bank's play match maker's and makes money.

Tundra 1794 in the US starts at $50,530 Before TTL however in Canada it's 61,715 CAD ( $46,362 USD)* before TTL so we in the U.S are paying $4100.xx extra for the same truck. Why is it extra here in the U.S, its because American are going out of their way and willing to pay extra and corporations and banks are taking advantage of it.
And the same goes for many other manufactures and their goods and services.

Here is another topic if not cars. https://www.cnn.com/2015/09/28/health/us-pays-more-for-drugs/index.html

I know many here wouldn't agree with my point of view, but I think we're paying way too much for the very little we get in back here.

but sure we got freedom and pizza !!!
