My parents are getting a camper. My wife and I want something more mobile. Thinking of a bed rack and a tent to mount to the top of the bed rack. Any one have pictures or this or can lead me in the right direction? Would love to see pictures of setups and what people like/don't like! Thanks

Just installed the KB Voodoo / Max Modular 10” rack yesterday. Seems pretty low profile which is what I was looking for.

Think one of the tepui tents would work on top of that? I do like the way it looks

It should be no problem. I will be mounting my Smittybilt today (possible) and I can send a photo once done if you want.

I’m basing my bed build off of this photo (this is the exact rack I purchased 10”x58”):

Nothing for/against the KBvoodoo but RCI and Victory 4x4 are offering comparable racks now.
Edit: for me RCI is local

I’ve been back and forth a million times. Probably on hold for this summer because I want the Grand Raid XXL so want to have all the cash for that. Been adding lighting and other accessories for now. Damn fiscal responsibility.

    None, yet....
I’ve got a @Datin Metal Fab rack and Treeline Outdoors RTT. We wheel, camp for the night, pick up in the AM, rinse & repeat. Mobility is key for the guys I wheel with. Especially for unforeseen events like storms, closures, or other people. Currently, REALLY dig the setup. Especially the height on the rack. Not tall enough to cause oissues offroad and helps keep the CG down.

OP - As you can see there are a ton of options. The modular design is very much growing as the mounting points are almost endless. I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying omen is better than the other it just comes down to what you need/want out of the rack.

My KB Voodoo came in within a week and I was pleased with the customer service and craftsmanship Chad has Putnam into these racks. I know with the guys/gals on this forum you will fine the rack..... and a lot of other things you don’t need but want like i have :drunk:

Last summer I picked up these:

TOYOTA TUNDRA (2007-CURRENT) LOAD BED LOAD BARS KIT - BY FRONT RUNNER

    www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/us/front-runner-slimline-ii-toyota-tundra-bed-load-bars-2007-oem-bed-rail-kit.html?geo-redirect=off&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4bOP2Ir94AIVqqOzCh28uA9LEAQYASABEgJEQvD_BwE

    Screen Shot 2019-03-12 at 1.06.14 PM.jpg

I like them because they are only seven inches high, so the rtt sits flush with roof while driving. Easy to break down and take off. If I did a lot of backcountry stuff, I would go with something a bit taller that has more of a modular build, able to hold more stuff on the sides, but for what I do, this works.

here's some pics from last summer

Think I could do a soft shell tent instead of a hard shell tent?

I was wondering if I could do those relentless fab bars with it! So these soft toppers, are the bottoms solid? What do you sleep on inside of them?

By "soft toppers" you mean roof top tent? The bottom is aluminum i believe and has a memory foam mattress.

The tent comes with the necessary hardware. If not, you can just buy the hardware separately from a RTT company.

The rack is a leitner designs and I love it. It was high enough to put bikes in below it.
