Would you guys recommend coughing up the cash for the TRD Pro or save some money and buy the Limited trim and add the Fox resevoir shocks and exhaust aftermarket? I'm guessing doing the latter would save a couple thousand bucks (correct me if I'm wrong). Anything the TRD Pro offers other than Fox shocks, Exhaust, Skid plates, and Hood scoop? Also, have any of you guys ever gotten below MSRP on a TRD Pro?

    Cheers,
    Victor

Well Put. If you want all TRD Pro parts you might say a grand for two. I believe the aftermarket FOX suspension will be better than OEM. You can also get the adjusters for High and Low speed compression and High, Low speed rebound. If you like tinkering with your suspension.

I have a limited with king shocks, I love it. The limited is cheaper than the pro so I say do that, the pro you’re paying for the shocks, badges, bed stamp and different color options, if you really want those then go with the pro. Any trim can keep up with the pro as long as the suspension is upgraded.

Platinum or limited. Pro wheels are nice but if you want different tires your choices are limited because of the offset. Go cheaper and mod it the way you want. You’ll be happier in the end. Well happier after you pay for everything.

I have this thing: if I’m going to pay >$50k for a truck, it should have parking sensors and butt warmers. Get the limited.

Specifically Limited vs Pro, I'd go Pro.

Platinum/1794... different story since they have a fair number of things that are harder to retrofit to a Pro. I went in originally to buy a CPO pro, ended up with a new 1794.

my major regret was not getting a platinum/1794...went in not realizing the seats were different then my limited. That alone would have had me go that way. I did look at a pro, but everyone wanted over MSRP at the time, and i feel my trucks suspension is now set up better then a pro's would have been.

you already have a 2017, mod the crap out of it and turn it into a better than Pro rather than loose $$ trading it or selling it. im sure the new 2019 Fox TRD pro suspension is good but most likely not nearly as good as Fox resi 2.5's or better you can buy aftermarket for probably about the same price or less, or king, or icon, or ADS...

Thanks for the replies guys. The think I'm most concerned about is getting it de-chromed, putting a lift kit and new shocks on, new grill, new wheels, new exhaust, where I'm at the point where I'd regret not getting a Pro in the first place...would this ever happen? I know it'll be a cheaper than getting a Pro but is it worth all that labor/time/possible warranty void to get a couple thousand bucks off? I'm currently on a short lease and can give it back within the year so my options are pretty open (definietly going to be a long term Yota customer judging by my week with the new Tundra). Are Fox 2.5 Resevoir Coils better than the stock TRD Fox suspension? How hard is it to get everything de-chromed and body colour matched? Appreciate any input!

    Cheers,
    Victor

Victor, I think you answered your own question. I would pull the trigger on a Pro. You will have all the parts you want with a warranty, and no time wasted waiting on parts, labor and possible warranty issues. I love my Pro and have no regrets paying MSRP. I would do it again.

Time will void the warranty so that wouldn’t be and was not a factor for me. My input is to get the best trim level that meets your needs and then mod from there. I’d take my truck over ant Pro everyday of the week and I got everything I wanted.

Hey 4runner why did you make your truck look like a pro. Minus the bed stamp.

I vote PRO all day long. You can’t go wrong with any of the trims. Even the 2wd people on here have badass rigs

For all the PRO haters ;)

I would modify the current truck over buying a new vehicle. It would probably be more than just a few thousand off depending on what you want to modify and if you can get some friends to help you install parts over a shop. What warranty are you worried about being voided exactly? How much would you modify a Pro if you bought that? Do you want to powdercoat the chrome parts or try to trade with someone who wants chrome parts?

I went the expensive route got the 2019 1794 now im gona upgrade everything haha but it will be a fun project and i can get all the bells and whistles to i just couldn't spend 55k on a truck with no seat heaters got mine for 48k out the door so i figured 7-10 k in extras should make a 1794 trd pro with all the options i guess we will see how it goes i havent got into it just yet only had the truck a few weeks

Pro is an awesome truck. If inwanted a truck that I would not touch other than cosmetics and some bigger rubber it’s a no brainer pro all day no need to think about it. But I enjoy modifying vehicles and wanted something over time I would enjoy making my own so I went TRD off-road. Only thing i regret is maybe should have went sport but i love my truck and plan on having it a very very long time

Right idea, but instead if a limited you get a 1794.

If I'm keeping my current truck I'll most likely powdercoat or wrap the chrome parts, get some TRD wheels, and some Fox shocks with a 2 in lift. If i'm getting a Pro I'll most likely just leave it stock.

Sounds like a plan! I'm not the most mechanically inclinded person you'll meet so whatever modifications I'll be doing will probably be paid work done by a mechanic. 1794's leather doesn't really appeal to me all that much, forgive me but I'm more of a city boy haha.

Same, I test drove the Platinum but didn't like the diamond stitching. Shopped around awhile, bought the Limited without driving thinking it was only the seat heaters, lack of TRD and leather stitching. Big regret.

I tried to leave my pro stock. Didn’t stay stock for very long. It’s to fun to modify these trucks. If you get TRD Pro you won’t look back.

You think its worth waiting for the 2020 or just stick with the 19? I'm not sure how I feel about push button start? I've always liked key ignotion but that 8' screen w/ carplay does sound intriging...

I would get a 19. You have a fun truck to drive now. You can always install a better stereo later. I’m sure that OEM stereo will be available at some point in 2020. You will be so pumped with a Pro. Had mine almost two years and still can’t wait to drive it. Those new forged wheels look so sick too. I know a dealership with two Tundra TRD Pro on hand. Selling at MSRP.

The only reason I see in getting a Pro is if you are going to keep it stock. If you want to turn a Tundra into a real off road truck then starting with a lower trim level is the way to go.
