For those who added an amp under Passenger Seat -'18 DC

I am gathering my parts to do quite a few interior mods that include an Alpine MRV-F300 amp to replace the factory amp. If possible, I would like to keep the factory amp in place but that is not a show stopper. I have not removed a seat yest to see what I have to work with under there, so is there any members who can share pictures how you mounted your Amp under the passenger seat?

 

I will have to dig thru my install thread to find pics, but I installed my amp under the drivers seat, granted I also used a ********* ReCurve. I removed the amp under the passenger seat, but probably could have just disconnected it.

The reason I installed under the drivers seat is it is a shorter and easier run for the power wire. You come straight out of the firewall down the drivers side and over under the seat.

 

To replace the factory amp. You will need to get a harness from Amazon.
I didnt use the power (12v+ and ground from the harness), just the remote to turn on the aftermarket amp.

Makoy - thanks for that info. I did buy that exact adapter from autoharness.com. Can I assume you ran a dedicated ground to a grounding point under the seat and a 8 gauge (or better) 12V directly from the battery. What pins in the J144 side did you not use? 4 and 7?

The picks were in my 2010, but I did the same thing in my 2016.

 

Hello guys glad I found this thread! I just installed some JBL 6500 club speakers and about to replace amp I also have the Mvr-f300. I was planning on using the Pioneer DEQ-s1000a for ease of adjustment after the install. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated! This is the mount I came up with going to put 1/2 or 1” blocks under it and use stock amp bolt holes.

 

I plan on removing the seats to do the amp, install heated seating wire, a remote starter and some other odss and ends. Is there any issues removing the seats and then turning on the ignition to test the new amp and seats etc?

 

You will just have airbag malfunction lights on the info display. But I drove with my seat out for probably two weeks with no other issues.

 

Once reconnected does the alert reset?

Gents - what a great weekend....I installed the remote starter, always on USB, Heated seats, the Alpine Amp, pop and lock for the tailgate and footwell lights!

As far as the amp install I used an Alpine mrv-f300. a HUGE HUUUUUGE Thank you to Makoy for those adapter images and schematics. Its pretty straight forward but slightly odd that some of the output and inputs span both factory plug/harness. Some of the colors didn't match up either but using the pin numbers from the images and I had 100% success aligning everything up. Running the 8 gauge from the battery was pretty straight forward and having the dash and the center console partially apart made routing the wires easier. And the best part of it is that the stereo is MUCH better! as we all know the stock stereo and amp remind me of an AM radio from the 70's and this really gives the sound a lot of depth. With a combination of the Amp settings and the head unit adjustments (tweeter, mid-range and bass) I am so very happy.

 

Does this work dor JBL amp as well? If not do you know where to find one for the JBL. I'm adding a new amp and would like to toe my speakers in at the harness without cutting

 

I dont believe it will. From what I have read the JBL is one ugly animal to deal with

 

Yeah I am just ripping it out. I am putting on a JL audio amp, kenwood headunit, and a maestro RR. I wanna run speaker wires from the amp to under the seat where the JBL amp is to tie into the speakers there rather than run new wires all the way to the new speakers I installed. I could just cut the factory harness and find the wires, I was just hoping for a harness to plug into the plug that comes off the amp so I don't need to cut the harness.
