Was deciding between the two before getting my SR5 Tundra and wanted to know your thoughts on it. My buddy got a new XD with the Cummins and that rig looked pretty nice. It doesn't have the reliability of the Tundra but he said he got a 100,000 mile warranty which is pretty sweet. Love the Tundra but the interior is something to be desired haha. I never even knew Nissan made trucks but it came up when I was researching the Tundra, something about that grill doesn't sit right with me though...

Wanted to see how the Tundra community feels about the Titan as they are both full sized Japanese imports (that are made in the USA). I rarely see any of em...they're as rare as a reliable ford :p

Hurts my eyes to even look at a Titan. Fugly and over priced.

Only modern diesel I have ever seen get beaten by its gas counterpart. Embarrassing to say the least.

I live pretty close to one of their production warehouses in TN so I see quite a few Nissan's around. Personally, I have to agree. Cosmetically they are a mess and I feel like a little identity crisis. Plus I've had friends and families with Nissan's, and their reliability is too inconsistent when comparing to a Tundra.

Haha I have to agree  I don't mind the Tundra's grill but would much prefer the TRD Pro one with TOYOTA on it

Cummins are POS. Ever since 5.9 engine people think they have the same reliable Cummins .. they are sadly mistaken..

Below was my response to a similar thread regarding the Titan not too long ago...

    START QUOTES:

visit titantalk and read the VERY LONG transmission thread.

had an '05 titan; bought from my father. bomb proof, except couldn't swim. lost it and everything else i owned during harvey in houston.

made a lot of quick decisions during sept 2017. a 2017 titan was one of them. BIGGEST POS I'VE EVER OWNED.

    transmission / shifting = garbage

headlights filled with water; not condensation... actually holding water

windshield washer hose was not connected, tried to clean windshield, cleaned engine bay instead. was pissed...

once connected, windshield washer hose had leak, dripped out of sprayer

    passenger seat shakes

driver side seat belt mechanism (part that rolls up belt behind b-pilar) was loose... freaking loose...

rattles, squeaks, and creaks with only a few thousand miles

got so tired of the dealer warranty trips, i started fixing sh!t myself.

oh yeah, column shifter. what year is this!?

got rear ended very hard. bent frame. great excuse to rid myself of that piece of crap.

bought a '19 limited CM in cement. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER.

    END QUOTES:

Interior looked identical to a Dodge from the previous generation. Can ya spot some similarities ?

The earlier generations looked like nissan had a reasonable design that would surely only get refined and better.

    That didn't happen....

Cosmetically speaking that is. Mechanically, really dont. know since theres not many on the road and its a new design. We always learn the most once warranties have ended.

I feel like there is a nissan type of work van that the titan's front looks a lot like.

The first generation Titan was hideous. Like a wedge on wheels. My friend owns one and loves it. The new Titans are I guess a little less hideous. I’ve been seeing a lot of them around Houston. Performance-wise they’re probably better than Tundra.

    I love the Tundra
I love the Ram (ZF8hp tranny is the best in segment)

    I respect the Ford
I respect the non 5.3 GM

I despise that disgustingly ugly thing called the Titan. It is right alongside the Ridgeline in my book. Both SUCK.

I looked very hard at the Nissans. Yes,they are ugly. But that warranty almost won me over. Plus, you can get a killer deal on a year end model. Read a article about newer Nissan trannys and stayed clear. Maybe dumb on my part. But I was done after reading that. Wish I had a need for a diesel. Great deals on the gassers though. Tundra won in the test drives for me.
