What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

It’s easy, I bought the scoop and painted it.

I cut the line up tabs off the back side and made a template for the holes that need to be drilled through the perfectly good hood



Place the scoop on the hood to position it and mark it, I used tape.

I also used my paper template to drill holes in a thick plastic sheet I had. I did this just to ensure my template was correct.

After that remove the hood insulation and cover up the engine bay with plast. This will help with the metal shavings.


Then drill them holes! I used a center punch and then a cordless drill.

Then touch up the holes to slow down the rust

Bolt it all up and your done

Damn Jody damn good job. I think ur selling yourself short on saying it was easy. It very well could've been for you. But I'm also pretty sure a lot of us would end up butchering something like that. It definitely looks like u have experience doing something like that. I could be wrong, but my intuition tells me your skilled in that sort of thing. Granted it's not brain surgery, but the way u planned it all out and the fact it came out perfect says something. Great job man, very nice.

The info u just provided could help a bunch of guys out here. I don't intend to do it, but was curious how u did it. I know lot of guys spend damn near 700 bucks and that's just to get an unpainted aftermarket hood with a scoop. They then got to cut anyway to install it. I'm guessing your approach is much more cost effective and probably incorporates just about the same amount of work as buying the hk or jk hood(forget if that's it) if someone is going to do it themselves.

Again I dont plan on doing this but I'll say it for the guys here that do. Thanks for providing the detailed write up and pics. I'm guessing you just helped a bunch of guys out save a bunch of money. Great job and thanks again for sharing, it came out awesome.

 

Just put a 3/1 Low Range leveling kit on this past weekend, purchased 18" Fuel rims w/ +20 offset Copper STT All Terrains 295/70/18, tires stand out about
1 1/2" from fender

Yes , absolutely could put an LED light bar in there. I was actually thinking about putting three amber lamps in it.

 

I added spyder tail lights. So far I'm pretty happy with them. I'll take some pics tonight to show how they look.

 

Take some close ups of the fit and finish, that’s a clean looking tail lamp.

Just installed my new LCA Skids from Victory 4x4. Here they are installed.

 

Took off mud flaps and lower fender well bumper inserts to fix a front tire rub problem when backing up and turning wheels. Worked like a charm!

 

Added just a touch of color to the side of the truck.

Make sure you put in the correct diameter so they fit on the center caps of whatever wheels you have.
