Ok, so which one would you go with? They are doing a 10% off sale, and I have a gift card that I can potentially use with them. If so, I can get the plastic one for $21, or the metal one for $255. Is the metal one that much better and worth it? Would like to get the opinion from some of you who have either. Thanks..!

Speaking of storage. Lockerdown has come out with a vault for the backseat of the doublecab and is developing one for the Crewmax as we speak. The are great products. All us made.

Probably the same reason they do a number of other really stupid things/designs. Maybe they are just being cheap. Hell i dont know...but on a $40k truck!

Where did you see that ESP is doing 10% off? I'm not seeing any sales on their site.

Dang, I was ready to hand over some cash tonight for a P3 panel and an under seat tray. This will round out my new Platinum quite nicely :)

Thanks for the heads up on their FB page.

Those look awesome! One thing I don't get, and can't stand, is there is no storage in my Tundra. My old Taco had lots. Bigger Tundra, none

so i just installed my esp aluminum storage box and i accidentally scratched the top cover......is there anyway to fix it or is there a certain touch up paint i can use to cover it up? It's a pretty deep scratch where the silver aluminum is showing.

I didn't scratch mine yet, but was thinking the same thing. Since I put stuff back there sometimes with the seat up, I cut an old floor mat to cover it to prevent scratches. I would reach out to @havasubud about the touch up paint.

My son and I installed the plastic ESP in about 45 minutes last night.
Remember - the box has the template for cutting the carpet. Take care with he box.
We used a utility knife and a 4" putty knife for cutting the styrofoam.
Nice product - Thank you ESP!

the aluminum containers are sweet but am i correct in assuming a person needs to use a key every time you want to open them?

Really? I couldn't remove my keys with the doors unlocked. I'll have to try again. Hmmm.
UPDATE: Nope, I checked and I cannot remove the key and leave them open/unlocked. You could always leave the key in the lock or remove the keeper. I lock mine obviously.

I couldn't take my key out when left unlocked either, is there a trick to this?

It's OK. I had to check again :)
I remember when I loaded my stuff that I had to use 3 of the 6 keys to have them all open at once since I couldn't pull the key out with the doors open. I now have 3 of the keys on a ring that easily allows me to separate them in case I want all of them open at one time again (probably won't need to again now that they are all full of stuff)...

Am I missing something here. My Tundra came with back seat storage. Is that an option for Tundra's?

Do you only need to cut the carpet and foam? This looks like a "No Brainer" to me if it is that easy?

Pretty much. For the metal one that I have, you remove the 8 bolts that hold the rear seat in and move it toward the back of the cab. Then, using the template ESP provides on the box (you have to cut out the template from the box, but its easy), align it with two of the mounting bolt holes and mark the floor. I used a yellow crayon. Then cut the carpet and foam, clean up the mess and lay the storage box in place. It is held in place with the front feet bolts from the rear seat, so then bolt the seat back down. To me, the hardest part was maneuvering the seat sections around by myself. If you go to their web site, there is a nice installation video that shows it all. The plastic unit does not require moving the seat. Just use the template, mark it and cut. On the metal one you have to move the seats because it uses the seat bolts to secure it.

Double cabs have storage under the rear seat. Crewmax cabs do not have any storage to speak of under or behind the rear seat (there is a little bit if you can reach behind at the door edges but that's it.). We basically have a flat, tiered floor under the rear seat.

Go back to the OPs comment on page 1 and you'll see the Crewmax floor.
