I once dressed up as a cop for Halloween. Does that mean that I'm also allowed to berate people who write "slanderous" things about me on this forum?

P.S. I'm also a fully-credentialed and easily-triggered Millennial, so I'm probably going to berate anyone who offends me regardless.

I'll say it again, nothing you listed increases the payload capacity of your truck. You keep talking power of the engine. It means next to nothing for payload. Sure, it will pull better....but the payload capacity is actually lower now because you added a bunch of weight to your truck. Payload capacity is a function if many things including suspension strength, axle assembly strength, frame strength....among other things. With the stuff you added to your truck your payload capacity is lower than the 1560. Couple that with the huge tongue weight if the trailer, and you are legally overloaded.

Unless you went and legally had your tow rating and payload capacity increased after a thorough review of your new system. That can be done.....it is not an easy process from what I understand.....and it definitely takes more than engine mods and glorified airbags to have it approved.

Your truck is overloaded. Plain and simple. No slander. You know it and you ignore it. And you are in law enforcement and still ignore it. Almost makes it worse.

So am I but I am not one to go round and try to use it as a scare tactic. After 14 years of it you sound like a 21 year old kid who just graduated the academy and thinks he is a bad ass. A few things wrong with your response. You are a law enforcement officer who on a daily basis enforces the law and safety of others yet you over load your truck and put others lives as risk. Then you go on social media and try to intimidate someone with a minor threat telling them they are lucky this that and the other. The last mistake is you are using your badge to try and create some sort of superiority over others. Honestly no one gives a shit. For all we know you are a janitor at your local high school. Relax a little its the internet and people can willing say what they want as that's their opinion. If you don't agree so what I am sure you don't agree with all of their opinions. Thats called diversity. You should take that portion of the academy again.

My point of referring to my law enforcement background is in reference to the remarks made by another member insinuating that I was braking the law by towing a boat heavier than the tundra’s tow capacity!! My intent was solely to inform him that in a a law abiding law enforcement officer. I have not intentions to intimidate or get into any type of conflict with ANYONE on this discussion.

I do honestly believe that anyone that takes offense to my statement has misinterpreted my point and intent. I also hope that we all can get back to the topic of this thread and continue to be civil about the discussion. Thank you!

Reading this thread makes me appreciate my 2007 SR5 even more. Grab handle bar, more storage, lighted ignition ring, and trans temp gauge were all things I took for granted before.

for real though, i bought mine at 116k without knowing much of its previous history other than its ball joints had been done at some point, and the breaks still need done, but other than that its pretty clean. fingers crossed. not sure what will go next but i was under the impression that it would be pretty bulletproof. my silverado was ready for scrap at 100k, my tundra is just broken in i feel like

I think that most seem to have good luck with the Tundra. Mine hasn't been that stellar.

-Can’t see the switches on the dash (t/c,auto headlamps,t/h) when driving
    - open rear end
    - no auto 4wd (for the wife in winter)
    - lack of storage
    - no remote starter
    - can only go 17mph in reverse ( yeah, I know it sounds stupid but I have a long driveway and I hit rev limiter every day)
    - it idles too high for too long on cold start. But, even more annoying is that loud fan noise ....

Sounds like a lot but I really love this truck and purchased it for the longevity, resale and looks (had to have the cement when I saw it). Gas mileage isn’t as bad as everyone says if you leave it stock..

Slow power windows and cheap steering wheel. Nitpicking. But I can live with it. Why? Because it is the best truck I have ever owned. Saw the steering wheel leather mod. Lack patience for that one.

Definitely a Friday afternoon truck. They make too many to never have trucks with these problems, just a bummer you've been nailed with all of them.

Toyota remote starters suck (at least they did when I bought my truck), and it's not like the Ford or GM ones are that much better. Both mine and my GF's (Hyundai Tucson) have way, way better aftermarket remote starters. I'll only go aftermarket from now on unless the package it comes with is worth the money outside of the remote starter.

I'm on my 3rd Tundra and as much as I love it and don't want any of the other trucks on the market my hate list is decent in length. My love list would be longer though. :D

    - Slow power windows and don't have auto on all 4 (wife's XLE Sienna has them)
    - Have to buy a Platinum or 1794 with funky interiors (sorry Platinum and 1794 owners not my cup of tea) to get memory seats/mirrors, cooled seats, and fold in mirrors
    - No interior storage (my double cab Taco was loaded with storage)
    - Black plastic interior pieces like the door panels look like crap after 3 months from new on every single new Tundra I've bought
    - Took Toyota forever to put decent headlights on these trucks, the 2014+ should have had projector headlights
    - Can't turn fog lights on independent of the headlights (I know every vehicle is like this, but it's stupid)
    - No mechanical limited slip differential like my 2008 Taco
    - Stock exhaust too quiet, I shouldn't have envy of a Ram Hemi owner on anything
