Sorry to hear about your health. I hope you guys stay healthy.

For me, I had a couple valley’s of my own. Everything is back on track now and hopefully I’ll be able to hit some dirt in the near future. Of course with the SoCal crew.

Still gotta paint them and then it’s
Time to get them on. I’ll probably ask for help from the SoCal group and get some carne Asada, rice, beans, beers and margaritas flowing as a thank you. But I’ll keep every one posted!

slider are super easy to install wtf

I just balanced them on a jack, lifted until the top bolt holes lined up, loosely threaded in the bolts, then drilled the bottom holes. Drilling was tedious, but I had them on in a day. I even torqued and loctite the bolts.

Most sliders are easy with jacks or a buddy. But those Pelfreybilt with step panels are ridiculously heavy. I can't imagine adding that weight to a truck anyway but, if I wanted to, I'd definitely feed and margharita anyone that helped me!

I have white knuckle with .188 dom outer rail. 110lbs each. It doesn't matter how heavy they are if you use a jack

I just want to see more guys/gals doing their own work on their trucks. It sucks to see someone broke on the side of the trail and they have absolutely no clue what to do. Besides, most jobs seem more difficult then they actually are once you start turning wrenches.

I call dibs on supervisor / beer drinker!

Kidding, happy to help however I can

Wait... also depends where you are lol. San Diego?

    ^ This! 100% agree.

I have no problem helping people install parts when they're willing to get their hands dirty and learn so they need less help or no help the next time.

My roommate agreed to install sliders for a "friend" on TW so I knew he would need a hand. The truck owner didn't lift a god damn finger unless it was to ask us if we knew what we were doing and second guess every fucking move we made :annoyed::bananadead::frusty:

He left with his sliders installed, but the outside rails still wrapped in bubble wrap and him telling us how he's going to contact the manufacturer because his powder coat chipped
I made my roommate agree to NEVER offer to do work for him for free again.

I totally agree with you about turning wrenches and learning specially if your out in the middle of no where. I know these won’t be bad to install as u said balance with a jack put in a couple bolts in and shouldnt be bad after that. But I mean a little help becomes a small gathering to talk the Bs and spend time with friends and have a decent meal doesn’t sound too bad does it?

So when is this suppose to go down? I have sliders that I need to get installed, as much as I want to do it myself, I’m not allowed to pick up 10 lbs or couldn’t if I wanted to...health reasons.

Hopefully soon but I still need to remove some surface rust, prime, and paint mine. With this rain tho, it’s making things take longer then I want. What kind of
    Sliders do you have?

You should call @eccracer104 's roommate. I hear he does great free work. You might have to remove your own bubble wrapping though. :D

I was speaking more to the general community than specifically to you. And I get it, its always more fun to wrench with friends. BUT, its not as productive haha I get shit done much faster if its just myself. Actually @papasmurf and I get shit done fast too. Sometimes I have to slow him down because hes a fckn caveman

First off congrats on the puppy. It’s a life changer for the better. No I didn’t leave the hospital. I got a better job at the same hospital. I got my MBA about three years ago and have been passively looking for a job within GS system and one finally opened.

I had a friend and a small platform dolly that raised and lowered. I had to make some adjustments and I was able to remove it and get it back into place by myself. I just had to make sure it was centered on the dolly

Speaking of which... I really need to reverse the bolts on my rear shackles to get more clearance for my spare. I'm assuming this is a super easy job? Just don't want to pull it out and not be able to get it back in (TWSS!!). Any tips? Suspend the truck by the frame rails I assume? What's gonna happen when all the weight is off the spring and it elongates though? Will I be able to easily line up the holes in the shackle w/ the hole in the spring?

Yeah, getting sliders lined up is super easy. I was able to do it by propping one side up on a kids stool w/ a few 2x4's to space it up within a half inch of the frame. Then the other side was lifted up with a jack (eliminates the need to balance them and potentially have them come crashing down on my noggin while I bolted them up). Installed the furthest rear bolt first, then the front most bolt... then the middle ones.

jack the truck up and get the wheels off the ground. then put a jack under the axle. You'll be able to remove the bolts and using the jack you can line up the holes. Super easy
