DIY wheel well liners

No new noises and it might have drown the noise a little from the rear tires.
I will be home soon and am planning to make up something similar for the front when i get some time and beer.

 

Just want to appload this idea and exicution. Cheap and effective, I’m not sure it could be done much better. Thanks!

Does anyone want me to do a DIY for sealing your bushwackers from accumulating dirt?

Also if wanted could do a DIY for mud flaps if wanted.

 

I’m up in ND and drive off-road everyday and on scoria, so it chips paint, frame paint, wheels, chunks out of tires, etc.... I bought the truck to build it wheel and over land however still want to most def do what I can to prevent cancer like in that picture.

 

Any update on your fender liners? How are they holding up?

 

Mine are holding up great, I will post a picture tomorrow of a dirty truck. We drove down to the twin cities for the supercross.

No I didn't but if I get some time I should take down all my mud flaps and make templates for anyone doing flaps.

 

Just got home from a 500 mile round trip and today, it snowed good all the way home.

ZPMan… Did I understand that you made your own mud flaps also? What did you use and how did you make them. I just got a new Tundra this weekend and the first trip offroad today revealed some serious flaws in the design to keep mud from getting everywhere. Better wheel well liners and mud flaps are definitely going to be the first things I do to my new truck.

Thanks for the help ZPMan. I am going to try the wheel well liners, but I figure I have to get some fender flares first. Looks like the factory mud guards won't work with any after-market fender flares so will have to go another route for mud flaps. Thanks for the info.

No I haven't had the time, I should at least make up something for the gap at the front of the forward wheel well. When the dirt roads get sloppy in spring it pukes out onto the front bumper pretty good

Zpman.... what did you use to cut the plastic? Sorry for all the questions.... im not incredibly mechanically inclined and I'm much better at breaking things than I am fixing/building stuff.

 

I used tin snips, carpenters knife and a carbide bit with and air tool for touch up.

I did some digging on my phone and found a few more pics.

 

Well I finally built some wheel well liners. I’m definitely not as skilled at fabrication as ZPMan!!!! I had to modify mine some from his. I had to cut out more for the shocks, I’m guessing because I have standard factory suspension without a lift. I put the rear of the liner in front of the factory liner and mud flap because I was retaining the factory mud guard. The mud guard is offset to the rear so I couldn’t get the new liner close enough to the existing liner to fill the gap when I put it behind the existing liner. On the driver side I had to cut out for the top frame of the shock to allow the new liner to get close enough to the bracket to attach it. Overall it wasn’t a hard project but definitely time consuming. Took me about 10 hours from start to stop with a few breaks so definitely an all day job. I’m not that mechanical though so if you’re better at that sort of stuff it shouldn’t take you as long. I started on passenger side and it definitely took longer but the drivers side went quicker because I had already figured out a few tricks on the first one. Definitely didn’t turn out as pretty and professional looking as ZPMan’s but I figured I’ll be the only person looking in the wheel wells so oh well. I’d rather keep all the mud out from under the truck than worry about the looks on the inside of the wheel well.

Very interested in doing this for reasons you mentioned road salt and snow, I'm just concerned that putting this up will only cause it to be trapped behind it, where as now I can go every week and pressure wash it clean being able to see and access.

 

It is an extension of the existing mud guard attached to the box only has plenty of space between the frame and new guard. I am trying to prevent rock chips and salt making it's way to the box underside and along with holes in the frame loading up the inner frame with sand and salt. I did have to seal up the rear flairs to prevent accumulation on the top side of the wheel well. Fenders are cheap compared to box-sides.
