Need help!

So this is the second time I have ran my truck out of gas. I'm not getting the audible chime or Low Fuel light, and my needle is above the E. Anyone have this before?

 

Mine does that when parked on a hill facing down, have to roll it down to a flat spot then it will start.

 

Is the fuel sending unit part of the fuel pump?

 

What did you do to fix it?

 

Keep the tank full. "E" doesn't mean "enough"

 

My wife gets so mad at me if I get even below 1/4 tank she said one day do you need some money .I was like for what ? She said gas .Lol i said I'm good !

 

Yup! I never let my tank get below a quarter. Have the same problem with boats. The sending unit is always the first to go bad. Can’t remember the last time I had a working Guage on a boat.

 

My work F150 does this a lot when low. It'll have more than 1/4 tank left and read close on 250kms or more until empty and if i back into the parking lot at work it'll read fuel level low, and the gas light will come on. If i head into the lot it'll be fine. Moral of the story don't take the chance and fill it up before its at 1/4. I do that with the tundra now and i did it with my ranger as well. Owned the ranger for 4 years and never let the gas light come on. The sister in law goes by kms to empty and has run out of gas atleast 3 times that i know of.
