Hopefully they don’t go in that direction. It’s really cool knowing our trucks are supporting workers in Texas.

Vehicle (and other) manufacturers are going to go where labor is cheap, taxes are low, and unions aren't prevalent. Mandated minimum federal wages, high taxes and unions making ridiculous demands are all banes to nearly all companies. I would love to see manufacturing and production come back to the US in droves but... well, I'll just leave it there.

I don't plan to replace my 2010, so this latest Bean Counter stunt wouldn't affect me personally. If I were in the(new truck) market at the time this took place, Toyota would be replaced on my shopping list. There've been too many unwarranted cost-cutting feature- deletions over the years, for me to take Toyota's Design Team seriously. Our first new Toyota was in 1980, we ain't new customers.

My 2012 Tacoma was built at the San Antonio plant, my aunt purchased her 2015 Tacoma and it was a vin 3 Mexico made truck. There was a difference in the two from a quality standpoint and she had many more issues with the truck then I ever did. She traded hers off two years later for a Colorado after the frustration got to her with the Tacoma, I still own my Tacoma. I hope Toyota doesn't shift Tundra production south, They have already done so with the Tacoma and my guess eventually all of them will be made in Mexico eventually.

I agree I'd hate to see this as "Made in the USA" is one of the selling points for the Tundra and Tacoma line but this isn't news. Toyota has said a number of times now that when the new plant in Mexico is online they will be shifting a large portion of the truck production to that new plant.

Sucks but I don't see great things for the Toyota truck lines moving into the 2020's? The upcoming redesigns are probably going to incorporate a lot more "technology" in order to better compete within the market and then they are going to start making them in Mexico? Hope I'm wrong but it seems like the current gens will be the last gens to have Toyota's legendary reliability. :(

Mexican built GM, Mexican built Toyota.....where's the difference? If Toyota does this, it's the best thing Ford could've hoped for.

Tacoma’s are made in Mexico. I can see this happening. Hope not, but it’s a numbers game.

The GM heavy duty are made here in the good ol’ USA.

Add this reason to the many why I would never buy a 1/2 ton GM, Nissan, and Ram. I may buy the 5.0L F150.

I thought the Nissan Titan was made in Mississippi, and the engine in Tennessee if I remember correctly. I agree with you on the others though.

Sales could be down in anticipation of the new model in a year or 2. Same happens with the current version of the Iphone when a new version comes out, could it also be possible that they need to move production out of SA so the can retrofit for the hybrid version?

Oh I don’t know any of that information, and you’re most likely 100% correct.

I don’t like the Titan XD diesel for a plethora of other issues.

This could be true and usually happens before a model release but I also think sales are down because Toyota has allowed the other trucks to surpass the Tundra and before everyone jumps in with Tundra is more reliable etc. Yes it is, that's why we are all here but to the masses I don't think most people care that much about reliability. They want gadgets and latest tech. mpg etc, heck majority of people I know all lease now and get a new truck every 3 yrs so it doesn't come into play much for people like that.

The new Ram I think is biting into Tundra and Silverado sales, I see so many of the new Rams on the road lately and hardly any of the 2019 Silverado's.

I saw the other day one of the new rams in their cement color and made me do a double take (but wouldn't make the driver know it :anonymous:. Looked pretty mean.

You too. Let me guess! Rusted frame, trailer brake control issues, shaking at certain speeds, transmission guessing what gear to be in or not one at all. AFM causing oily consumption. Infotainment system working when it wants. Back up camera stays on after you have been in drive for a mile or so!

Good ole Chevy shake.. when it was time for me to trade up my 2014 Silverado I couldn't find one that didn't shake at highway speeds. They all shook worse with the 3.42 gears which is what I wanted, that's why I ended up buying a Tundra.

I wont buy a Mexican made Tundra. I'm keeping my 05 for as long as possible then replacing it with something no newer than 2017. I dont want any of the TSS crap either.

Shopping in 2010,I soon discovered how many American badged trucks were in fact built in foreign countries. Ford's sorry 5.4 V8 was lame and mileage was right there with Tundra's 5.7. GM's unwillingness to build a Crew Cab Half Ton IN America, with anything longer than a 5.5 ft bed. Every Dodge I looked at was out of Mexico. The foreign owned but American built Tundra was the answer. I shouldn't be a player for another truck but if I were and Toyota does this to the Tundra, then Ford and their 5 Liter V8 with 373 gears would be my choice.

I highly doubt they will move production out of SA. although it could be possible if sales for the Next Gen Tundra take off sense TMMTX is already at max capacity from what i heard.
