Yeah, I passed by one the other day. Might be local. Might need to see if they'll sell. Any higher value to these?

As far as what I've "done to my Tundra" today, I'm $2k closer in my Tundra fund.

Not sure if they're significantly higher in value but it's nice to see them around. I can't remember all the unique stuff they had but it included the grille, T3 bed stickers, I believe 17" wheels and they only came in black.

The grill is pretty sweet. Note the shape at the bottom of the surround is different.

I've got a cruise control stalk and wire harness from a spare steering wheel ive had laying around... anyone have pictures of the harness of their tundras with cruise control... i need to know what pins the switch plugs into. TIS isnt loading for me, so no wiring diagrams tonight

looks like the wires from the clock spring are there.. hell looks like the wires for the radio control are there. but for now cruise would be a nice addition

Got the cruise working. Pin 5 and 4 is what you need. My switch was from a Prius so red goes to 5 (next to horn wire) and black goes to 4

Just looked them up and you're correct. They also apparently came in green, those must be the super rare, I have only seen black.

While we're on the topic of special editions with sweet grilles, here's one for you:
The Yamaha edition. It seems it was a double cab Canadian exclusive. I would have that grille for mine. It looks well suited for that TOYOTA badging I would say.

I badly wanted one of those as my first vehicle back in 2007. They did come in 4x4, at least up here. They were asking $18 - $20,000 for a used one though. A little steep for a 17 year old. Ended up with my '94 Toyota pickup instead, which was a great truck all the same.

Today I got to ratchet strap up my fuel tank while I wait for the order of new ones to come in...

Very thankful I saw this in my driveway before I left home and didn't feel something weird while I was driving.... this could've been bad news. Used the ratchet strap to take the weight off the fuel lines and the rearward strap in the meantime since there's 3/4 tank of fuel in there.

The truck only has 144k miles. The frame itself has a fair amount of surface rust but nothing that I've found looks detrimental. How is a failure like this acceptable? Again, could've been really really bad had this happened while I was driving.

    @Crusader

I don't mean to argue but that rust is far more than what I would call surface rust. That looks really bad. Have you done a detailed frame inspection?

It fell because it essentially rusted out. Not enough good metal left to support the weight.

Agreed, the strap rusted out completely. But it wasn't anything to do with the frame that caused this failure. I've taken a ball peen hammer around almost the whole frame, and it's not pristine after 13 years in Canada, but it's also not bad enough that either Toyota will do anything about it or that I would be concerned about the actual structural integrity. Agreed though that it's not great, but I just bought the truck and was planning on cleaning up the frame and recoating it at some point in the near future.

I was also planning on bringing it to a Toyo dealer for a full safety inspection, but either way I didn't think the frame recall covered 05-06 Tundras? Or if it did I didn't think it would still be eligible now. Is this incorrect?

I beleive this is incorrect. I was actually about to say you need to check the vin for open recall. It's hard to tell what I'm seeing in those pictures but you may actually get a new frame. Make a fuss at the dealership and see what they say. Remember, they are on your side as they make a lot of money when Toyota pays them to replace the frame.

I have and the frame is not still open unfortunately. That's why I said I wasn't hopeful. But ya I have heard that about dealers so it may be worth a shot.

Looks like a new settlement was just finalized but only covered 2007-8 tundras and 05-08 sequoias. Which is bull crap.

Your frame is looking gnarly. Look to see if you have any rust “perforations larger than a grape”. If you do, you are covered under frame recall.

uffda. That sucks. I just had My entire frame, along with the brake lines and fuel tank straps replaced under the recall.

    have you double-checked here? https://www.toyota.com/recall

That's only true if the recall is open.

Ya I've found similar, thanks pretty easy fix, but now this thread has me questioning the frame more than I did I honestly don't mind doing this type of fix myself as I love having a vehicle to work on. And right now we have 3 vehicles so having one down isn't a big deal. But we are needing to sell one here very soon and it wasn't going to be this one. But I'm starting to question relying on a rusty 13 year old truck as one of two of our vehicles, as much as I'd hate to sell it.

Yeah I feel that. Take a good look at it. The fuel tank straps are much, much thinner than the actual frame. As much of a hassle as it is, maybe you sell this one while it's still in good shape, and buy another one that's more solid.

Ya that's what I'm feeling. Which we won't have money for right away, but I've loved this truck in the few short weeks I've had it So if we go that route would definitely have another one in sight in the future.

Added some more "features" and fixed my dome light with parts from the wreaked 4runner ive been slowly dismantling. Now equiped with glove box light, and a ignition light.... and the dome light works 100% of the time now!

the glove box light and ignition right light were plug and play. The wires were already there

@empty_lord your truck is coming along so nicely. You'll appreciate every little bit once its complete.

I'm fairly certain my tires are under inflated. I haven't done the chalk test because it's been raining almost daily since I got these tires. While under the truck putting the skidplate on I thought the footprint seemed exaggerated, and my mpg on my trip to San Diego was quite a bit lower than expected.

My truck seems slightly more sluggish than it used to, not sure if it's just the E rated tires. My spark plugs are fairly new, TB and MAF are clean, air filter is clean. I've gone through 2 full gas tanks since bringing it back to life. Considering changing the fuel filter soon.

its probably the tires.. the added weight from e range is something you'll really notice
and its coming along great. drives straight as an arrow even at 70 mph! lol beds coming off this week. so body shop time soon. cement grey is the color shes going to be.

oh but finding a driver side door is proving to be difficult... probably going to end up buying a new one from toyota..
