I hope someone can help me out here. After ripping my truck at high rpms back and fourth trying to rock my tundra back and fourth to get unstuck in ice and snow I noticed a vibration on the highway. Took it to a shop and the replaced one of my u joint's. That took some of my vibration away but I still have a vibration. Went and had my tires rotated and balanced and still didn't solve the problem. The mechanics said my carrier bearing seems ok and my drive shaft seems good to. Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks!!

Its possible you’ve done damage to your transmission. Take it to a specialist for service. Report back with results.

When they replaced your U joint did they rebalance the drive shaft?

My first guess was a U joint. My second guess is another U joint.

Good guess. I'm about to have all mine replaced. The U joints are cheap. If you're already paying for the labor you should just replace them all. I'll be doing that this week hopefully.

Definitely a u joint .... Be careful which ones you replace with .I just replaced mine 12000 miles ago and I had one go out couple of days ago and ruin my driveshaft. Just ordered the whole driveshaft assembly with joints and carrier bear.... Hopefully it will get rid of the vibration I was having

Drive shaft is supposed to be all good but I am not a mechanic! I've beat the living shit out of my tundra due to heavy drinking, mountain roads and just plain stupidity!! BUT,my transmission seems to be A Ok . It shifts with ease and I pass people on the highway like they are standing still.

Where did you order your driveshaft? Was it the rear or intermidiate shaft that blew?

The 02’ has a double cardan joint and is no longer available. Koyo joints are what is currently in the OEM cardan and Spicers on the ends that tie into the diff and transfer.

A short cut explanation of your process on your behalf would help anyone in the future.

My carrier bearing arrived last week. I think I'm just going to buy new U Joints from the Stealership, assuming they aren't astronomical. Are there 4 total U joints I need to buy? That's what I counted earlier, excluding the 4WD shaft.

4 u-joints total plus the spring and ball thingy inside the Double Cardan. My stealership won’t touch the propellor shaft. Who is doing yours?

Quoted me "around" $200 to replace UJoints
carrier bearing and rebalance shaft. Hopefully less now that I'm supplying the parts. You convinced me to go OEM on C.B. That alone was $150. Hopefully the new one will last another 17 years. Didn't realize there were other parts inside the double cardan. Will price those as well.
