I have been looking around on forums on this site and others and I'm not sure what to do with leveling my 2012 tundra crew max with trd. Some say that 5100 are better than 4600 that come with trd. Then people say u need to go with 6112. I want to go with a level lift with a good ride.

Your poll doesn’t give use a choice to pick for you. Just asks 5100 or 6112 yes or no. Do you want to know which we would choose? Get the 6112’s for better ride. Then change your poll to “which should I get”

    Stock is so temporary
    I purchased the 6112
    Why
5100 are basically the same internally as the 4600
The finish is the difference. The 5100 series is available with height adjust. Use your stock spring.
The 6112 coilover is beefier with increased oil capacity.
They both look good. Had the adjustable 5100 on two past vehicles.

From another thread, the 5100 set front/rear is for sale on Amazon for $117. I couldn't resist although I already have a set on my truck!

If you plan on keeping your truck for awhile and don't mind the extra money go with the 6112's:thumbsup:

6112, hands down. 5100 is a stock replacement that also gives you lift. 6112 is an actual suspension upgrade that totally changes the driving characteristics of the truck for the better, on and off road.

Thanks for the feed back. I had a 05 Tacoma before and my Tundra rides alot better. People have commented that 5100 are stiff and I didn't want to hurt the feel of my present ride with trd bilsten I have now. I do want to level it and get slightly bigger tires without spending lots of $$$.

5100s become stiffer when you stuff the stock spring at the top setting and compress it so the spring is now under more tension. If you went in a middle setting and used a shim to get the last 1/2”, your ride would be better than stock.

It depends what you plan on doing with the truck. I had 5100's on my truck and they road like complete shit after I believe 30k. I wasn't using them gently either. The 5100's did ride better than the stock shocks but I had them installed at the same time as my lift. I say the bigger the better.

Just for reference for the OP and the rest of us, what is the average price for a pair of 6112s?

Check race consulting agency. They usually have them for $550-$600. I have purchased two sets from them. One for my old tacoma and now for my tundra
Best thing I've done in past is put the part number for the Bilstein 6112 for the Tundra in Google, then click the shopping tab. Itll quickly scan for prices from hundreds of retailers carrying the part.

6112/5100 combo un assembled from Amazon was 759. I bought 30$ spring compressors (amazon) and assembled them myself extremely easy!!!!!!! Dirty deeds has a great video. I also purchased new top hats so I did not have to disassemble the old coil overs.
