I like them they don't hang to low when driving off-road

 

I like that they are not the standard round tubing.

 

Took the RW to a Large Toyota Dealership here for a 5K service which included Tires rotate and balance. However, they said, and didn't charge me for, they couldn't do the tires as the lug nuts were SWOLLEN. I've never heard of this before on passenger vehicle but I'm in the Large construction industry and didn't think anything of it other then "Ok, I'll pick some online". and left it at that.

My research says don't go with the cheap set at Oreilys for $50.
Can anyone confirm the correct wheel lug nuts for a RW stock wheels. All my research points to PTR27-60110

Never heard of that either. I would get some of these studs in case you break some getting off the swollen lugs:

I bought my car with a broken stud and missing lug.

I think that is the right part number (it is the same thing I almost bought), but I switched to these on my rock warrior wheels: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002801WD4/ I was not going to pay 200 bucks for new lugs. They seemed popular on the forums and have good reviews.

 

Here’s my 2013. Put a leveling kit on it a year and a half ago and so far no problems. Also have spidertrex wheel spacers no problems there either. I love my rock best looking trundras guys lol.

Here's my 2013 I purchased in January. This has been one of my dream trucks and I finally got it. It has a front spacer installed and 35/12.50 K02's but there seems to be a 1" reverse rake so I'm thinking of taking the spacer out and dropping down to a 285/70 but not sure just yet, what do you guys think?

 

You were running 35's with the stock suspension and no issues? I only ask because i purchased mine with a leveling kit and 35's but would like to reduce the leveling kit from 3" to 2.5 to fix the saggy but look but was afraid it wouldn't fit the tires.

 

I'm currently running 35s on stock suspension without any issues. @BorderCop is one of the guys who inspired me to just do it after having the tires in my garage for weeks just waiting for me to catch up. It can be done.[/USER]

Ya discount decided to use an impact on the wheel locks to get them off and on the first one they broke the key already got a new set of locks coming today

 

I didn’t want a 14 and bought the last 2013 RW DC in July 2013.

My off road mods are 360 degrees Scratches around the whole truck, few dents and both tail lights cracked but functional. I’ve ran a bucnch of sets of tires. 35’s, M/T’s & A/T’s in a few tire brands.

What works best for me is Toyo’s open country A/T’s. I drive and crawl alot and these tire are the best imo. I’m at 200k miles on the warrior so I got some experience with tires.

Warrior is usually dirty from playing in bushes, dirt, mud, snow trails

I did the math, California gas prices puts me at a grand total of $55,000 of gas I’ve pumped in the truck! I loved every mile

 

Haha. Oh Hell no! Costco members here in KC get $1.97 on the MO side. $2.09 on the KS side. So I can't complain. But I will.

I am thinking of getting 35s when it's time. I'd say there is less then 5k on the current shoes. So I've got some time. Toyo's are on my short list.
Bought used, I've put about 1,500 on it.

 

Costco here is $3.10, I am too a big fan of Costco.

Well now I'm at about a 1/4 tread on my BFG's and I'm not sure when I'll have the money to get new tires. this forum is gonna be the end of me financially.

 

I have a black grill but a chrome piece around it . Anyway to buy just a black piece or is everyone dipping these ? What’s the official name for this piece ? Anybody have a link ? Thanks for your help I’m advance fellas

 

Also, a best way to get a stock looking front and back bumper that are black ? Not a huge fan of the off-road ones that are bulky and have lights . Looking for more of a stock look but trying to delete the chrome .

 

Does anyone have any good recommendations on removing the outer rings off of these factor RW wheels? I have a ‘13 crewmax with 50k miles. Started trying to take them off last night and broke my t-30 bit on only the 3rd bolt!!!!! Figured someone would have some helpful input. Thanks all..

 

I'll be watching this closely. Seems everyone has major issues getting those rings off. I just bought three T30 bits this weekend and am going to dive into it soon. I hope three is enough lol.

 

I just ordered some impact t-30 bits off of Amazon. Maybe that’ll do the trick. It’s a pack of 5, so we’ll see. I did read where Toyota used blue loctite from the factory, to secure them in place. The 2 bolts I did get out had white powder all over them and some residual blue loctite.

I really like the looks of these wheels, but they are (in my opinion) the worst wheel to clean that I’ve ever had on a truck. I’m hoping that if I can get these rings off, it should make cleaning a more enjoyable (and less knuckle-busting) experience.

 

So I broke all three of my bits. Two of them were impact bits, and one was just a regular bit. The regular one took off five before snapping, the first impact bit took off six, and the other impact bit took off two. I'm going back to the store to get more and keep trying. I'm not sure why Toyota thought it was necessary to make these things so difficult to remove.

So far my procedure has consisted of spraying all the bolts with WD 40 a few days ago, and tapping the center of the bolt using a hammer and punch just before removing them today. I'm not sure if any of that is making a difference, though.

Update: did some more this morning, had less success. I bought six more impact bits and broke two and twisted one to the point it's no good anymore. I only got two more bolts off, and stripped out another.

Update 2: wrestled some more with the rings after work today. Broke all the rest of the bits I had bought, but not before I succeeded in getting off one of the rings. I stripped out four bolts on another wheel and had to drill them out to get the ring off.



Update 3: do NOT buy these bits from Amazon. The reviews said they were stronger than other bits. I broke all five within minutes, and they didn't get any bolts off. I ended up going back to Home Depot for more of the same ones I had previously bought, which were GRK and Milwaukee brands impact bits. This process has taken 18 bits and I still have nine more bolts, five of which are stripped out and will have to be drilled out. The others probably will, too, as they keep breaking my bits.


Some on here and elsewhere on the internet have said that these rings should be removed to mount tires to prevent damage to the rings. Others have said that's not necessary. I have to side with those who say they're not intended to be removed. Toyota secured them so effectively I have earned my ticket to hell and corrupted the minds of several neighborhood kids screaming profanities at the air because of 48 ridiculous and unnecessarily difficult to remove tiny bolts.
