Just sold my Double cab 4x4 Tacoma, to purchase a used crewmax 4x4 Tundra, (need more room a towing power).

In researching, I have noticed enough problems with the FF's that I think it best to avoid the FF Tundras. The years I'm looking at is 2011 to 2013.

It just seems like one extra thing that could possibly go wrong (and costly).

Would you avoid the FF engine on a used Tundra or am I overthinking it?

Nah. As long as it's up to date on updates you should be ok IMO.

FF is fine... But do your research on the AIP, especially if it's a '12.

12 and below, but especially the '12 because Toyota only warranties up to '11.

I think there was some kink in the beginning, but my understanding is that computer reflash fixed the issue on FFV vehicles. Complaints seem to have dwindled.

    Ok thanks for replies.

Seems like a bigger issue is the AIP, just spent the last hour reading about the problems.

So if I understand correctly, they warrant the AIP to 10 years/150k miles on 2011 and below?

I saw one thread that said only year they do not cover is 2011, but stated above says 2012 not covered.

Could somebody clarify the years and coverage?

Also does that mean 2013 and above have the issue fixed?

    Thanks!

Sorry, it could be '11 and below. Got a huge headache right now... can't think straight.

No problem Joonbug I appreciate the heads up and all the info. Just trying to get my ducks in a row before I pull the lever.

Please keep it coming on the AIP info.
