    Lost track after #1.
It's honestly not that bad. Just take the time to get the cutout positioned correctly and tape it down first before tracing the outlines.

Yes, I was really nervous about it. My truck was about a week old when I installed it. But it turned out real easy, and there is enough of a lip around it to cover up any accidents if that should happen.
I actually cut mine a little small inside the lines, test fit, and then shaved off as needed to get a tight fit.

It took me about two days to build up the courage to cut holes into a 40k truck as well. So glad that I finally did it though. Key is to cut inside the lines when you mark it. The box has the template built into it.

Put mine in, pretty straight-forward. Cutting the carpet was easy - the insulation underneath was another story! That was an oh-shit moment, didn't have a blade long enough. Used an old spare Rapala filet knife and got it done. RIP Rapala knife - tip took a beating.

Finally got around to installing the ESP under seat storage . A little nervous to cut into the carpet at first, but after the first cut, it was smooth sailing from there. I love it already. Can't believe I waited this long to get it put in.

Does this thing just lay onto the floor with no screws? Or I'd it secured down somehow.

It fits snug based on the template cut out of the foam. No screws needed. Not had any problems with movement. Could always use duct tape or sound proofing if need to offset a wider cut out. The tray hides entire area so looks professional.

No screws. I cut my holes a little on the small side and then shaved off as needed until I had a tight fit. It is not going anywhere by itself. I will probably have to pull pretty hard to get it out if I want to. Also, most of the time you will have the seat down on top of it, which will also hold it in place. It is actually a very tight fit with the seat also, which acts like a lid on the bins.

Does the plastic open-top option make noise? It does not appear to be bolted in like the metal box and then open containers could have things rolling and rattling around, just wondering how those who've chosen this solution feel about it? Would you do it again or go with the metal locking option?

No noise at all. I have all kinds of stuff in there that could potentially be noisy, but it is not. The boxes itself is in there very sturdy also, so need to bolt it down. Even if it wants to move, when the seats are down they sit tight on the boxes and will keep it in place. I prefer the open boxes for ease of access. Just lift the seat and grab what you want, instead of having to lift the seat and open the box lid. I don't have a need to lock anything down though - I can see the benefit there if you keep guns or expensive equipment/tools in there.

    Short answer - no noise/rattles

Thanks for the quick answer! Helpful in trying to make a final call on this, keep going back and forth, had a locking under seat box from Tuffy in my F150 that I really liked having the ability to lock things in but it only cost like $150 or so, the locking ESP at $400-500 is a tough one to swallow. Functionality and slick OEM look are very appealing though.....

If there is a need to lock things up then it is a no brainer, but for me there would be no need for that. As I said in my earlier post, I don't keep anything valuable in there. The few tools that I have is cushioned by a towel that I keep for emergency use, so there are no rattles either (the lockable metal box might be more prone to rattles if metal tools bounce around in it than the plastic box, but I have never heard of any complaints)

This is what I typically keep in mine:

Thanks for adding to your first reply. I occasionally have need to lock something down but could likely work around that for less $. One last question for you, do you find that the open bins collect dirt/dust/kid junk dropped in back seats?

I installed this storage unit also. I find that the seat bottoms rest across the tops of the wells, effectively sealing them. I have had numerous kids in the back ranging in age from 9-14, so I have had food, glitter, small toys, etc... and when I lift the seats the wells still look clean.

I've had my under seat storage for almost a year and it's been great. Keeps everything organized and hidden, rather than thrown and in the way in the rear seat.
My daughter sits back there and things can sometimes get messy with cookies or crackers but I haven't noticed anything slipping all the way through to the bins.
Everytime I do a car wash I always fold up the seats to give the area a quick vacuum and wipe down.

Also, not to brag but I bought the ESP underseat storage from offer up for about $90 never installed.
They guy had second thoughts about cutting into his TRD PRO.

    Take your time installing.
Using a good knife and tape or get another pair of hands to help hold the stencil in place.

^^^This. The boxes are covered by the seat bottoms. You can actually see the slight indentations made by the box edges in the seat bottom fabric. It is a tight seal.

I have the 3 box locking storage and honestly wish i had gone with the open top, or known about the long locking box coming out. It looks bad ass and works great, but having to unlock each lock everytime sucks (you can leave unlocked but its a pain to open, needs handles or grips).Once i got my center console safe i really regretted the locking, until i saw @Boerseun pic of under his seats. That would drive me nutz! I have Husky's full rear mat that go over the ESP box so i wonder what my seats would look like w/o it? Maybe i did make the right choice...I keep going back and forth. I probably didn't help, but good luck with your decision anyhow! ;)

I went with the locking tops. I never really lock. But I do need to be able to put up the seats and still have a solid area to store things on long camping trips.

I went with the long box. The pre-marked cardboard box is about 1" too long (narrow side), I cut it for snug fit. I also marked the foams and cut it outside the vehicle using serrated kitchen knife, so much easier. Also one of the hole slot for securing it onto the floor lined up 1/2 covered, no adjustment I can do to the box or brackets to make it work. I drilled the box to make it work, driver side slot.

@matictundra Did you cut your floor mat to fit around the box? I have weather tech floor liners and was wondering how it would work with the storage box. How has that worked out for you, does the floor mat seem to stay in place? I was especially worried about the sides flopping out into the door.
