I dont see why a lot of swaps wouldnt be possible. These are all taurus SHO references, but the basic premise should apply.
One guy is putting a Sentra 6spd behind the stock motor and re welding CV shafts in the taurus body.
Another converted the taurus from fwd to rwd with the stock motor.
Another converted to rwd and dropped a 5.0 coyote in.
Many rwd conversions mated to a t-5 or t-56.

I dont see why we couldn't take a v6 4wd and swap the motor in and do some (very) complicated wiring. Just spitballing at this point though. More time and money than what I got.

Anybody ever heard of using a 5.7 throttle body on our 4.7?

For 4 low it has to be in P/N, 4 high will engage at any speed under 60.

On the fly! 4Hi! And you can shift out of 4Hi back into rear drive on the fly also. All with a touch of a button.

Only 4Lo do you need to stop and put in N and then shift from 4Hi into 4Lo.

No ‘clunk clunks’ today. Truck rides noticeably smoother at high speeds. Lower speeds just slightly better. The composite shim for the win!

Checked all the fluids this morning and things looks good. She still is slightly seeping oil around the lower oil pan gasket due to the Mobil1 Synthetic Oil detergent action. Its not dripping, but just a slight oil haze. I’ve wiped it down and the seep haze layer comes back in an equal ring around the pan just below the gasket line. I’d tighten the pan nuts to snug the gasket seal better, but it is too tight around some spots to get even a skinny wrench in there.

Any ideas? Should I switch over to high mileage Mobil Syn oil? Or, back to a Syn ‘blend’ which was what she was on before? Nothing major needs to be done right away so I’d wait till next oil change in 4-5 months.

Or, is it too late and I’ll have to live with the current problem?

Switch to high mileage. Shouldn’t cost any more, and it’s addative package is designed to help with that.

This is what I’ve read on the Mobil1 site. Just looking for real world examples from anyone with a similiar experience.

I use the high mileage stuff in my accord. I have no complaints, although it leaks a fair amount of oil.

I may have missed it but did you post pics?

I'm not clear on what it is you "shimmed".

In regards to the oil pan leak. I noticed the pans on these things are in a tough spot. Replacing the oil pan gasket is going to be a real PITA. I hope that day never comes.

The rear leaf springs. Rear facing leaf overlays. One side was missing the silencer pad. The other side the silencer pad was slipping out. This lead to the clunk. I bought composite shims and made my own pads and slipped two in per side rear facing overlay.

Took the muffler off the truck today. Partly because the bed was resting on the pipe and other reason being I could t stand the noise from the muffler hole. So completely gone and now it sounds good. Lol

Any suggestions on good exhausts? I was thinking the trd exhaust, or a factory exhaust and weld in a cutout to bypass the muffler when I’m feeling assholish

Nice. I just know the maintenance side. Never messed with these engines for performance. Just the 2gr-fe and 5vz-fe.

But I can maintain any Toyota engine since i work for the bastards! Lol
