I noticed over Christmas break while driving in sub-freezing weather that my Brake light was on. It would go off if it warmed up. Been keeping an eye on it since. It is on, even when my parking brake is off. If my interior temp increases (been pretty cold the last 2 months in CO Springs and I really only use it to commute) then the light will shut off. So, my guess is I just need a new sensor, but not sure the part number. Any assistance? @Roman ?

My old 1989 Toyota pickup did the same thing on cold mornings. It would stay on, then as it warmed up it would flicker on and off before finally staying off. I never did fix it... Sorry for being no help—good luck!

Put a little bit of brake fluid in the reservoir. Should fix the issue.

Exactly! Check brake pad thickness and for any fluid leaks while you’re at it.

That's a good point. If the pads are low, don't fill up the reservoir to max. Once you replace the pads, you might run into it being over filled. Definitely check for leaks too, but you probably just need a little bit of fluid if the light is only coming on when it's super cold out.

Ah, thanks! I know my pads are near end of life. Not totally dead yet. I will try that. Thanks all!

I may be a dummy but isn't the parking break a cable and shoe system separate form the hydraulic disc breaks...please correct me if im wrong. my 2010 double cab used to do the same thing when it was cold and my truck had sat for a couple days. mash it real hard a couple time and it should go away. may just need some adjustment.

The "BRAKE" light is more than just a warning light for the parking brake. It also lets you know when you need to add fluid.

good call, i know the issue i had with my old truck was definitely the parking brake sticking and not tied to the disc brake system.
