Keep me posted. Did you go with rugged cover or extang? I’d prob go with the cheaper one, I don’t need the push button LED cause I have bed lights. I also don’t have bed rails either.

I went with the Rugged. Read too many leaking issues with the Extang. Haven’t read a bad review on the Rugged so I went with that one.

I think you’ll be happy with it, love mine so far. I also prefer the look of it over the flush style and get a lot of compliments as to the rugged look and texture of the panels.

Did y’all go with the rugged cover 2 or 1? Is that the premium vs E-series? What’s the main difference? I know the premium has a light, but I don’t care about it cause I have the LED bed lights

Mines says Rugged 2. It’s the Premium. The lights are a nice addition for me since I don’t have bed lights.

Mine is the Rugged Cover E Series Hard Folding, not the 2, which is the Premium Hard Folding The only difference I could find in all my research before buying is you don’t get the led lights, which I didn’t need.

Thanks! @Hammy68 , According to this photo 07-19 have the same bed size.. so if I found someone selling the Rugged Cover on Facebook for $500 and it’s meant for a 07-13... would it still work on the ‘18 I have? Cause if so I might be hollering at this fella. Just was curious.. model number for rugged cover is HC-TUN5507 (07-13) and HC-TUN5514 (14-19). Anyone confirm that model numbers are BS and it should fit? Lol I really want it to.

It may work, but there’s gotta be a reason that the product was completely updated for Gen 3 Tundras, in addition to the shipping weight being 2 pounds more for the 5514. I would guess that the front of the bed and the tailgate are different shapes or heights, and the rubber seals, rubber front rain overhang, etc, are different on the newer model. You may not find the 5507 cheaper as it is less common. If you compare on Amazon(where I got mine), the 5514 is currently 27 bucks less.

@Hammy68 FB msged the guy and he said no it wont work, but call me and ill get you a price on the RC2 "i think its about $1000" lol i replied and i said, no offense but thats steep as shit.. and hes local.. no wonder e-commerce does so well. I think i am leaning more and more to the RC2... or the E-series, doesnt matter to me.. depends on which one I find at the cheapest price.. I also want to put that under seat storage in the truck too.. i think it runs 180. Just my only upset about the tundras.. no storage, at all.. my tacoma, storage under and behind the seat.

anyways, if anyone knows where i can get the rugged cover as cheap as possible, holler at me. Thanks.

Looks like the E series is the canvas Tri-Fold top. The Premium is the hard Tri-Fold A208B2BF-C042-4971-B1E1-DBB895E2D90A.jpg

from what i have learned there are two main options E-series and Premium, then each of those has a Hard and soft version. premium soft has the LED light added to it.

The E-series i found is a hardtop too..

Hmm. Kind of confusing I guess. When I was looking that’s what I thought the E series was. Anyway, I wanted the leds anyway since I don’t have bed lighting.

@ScarWars ill respect that.. yea im pretty sure they have a hard and soft for both E and Premium. I got lucky on my truck it came with a spray in liner and the LED bed lights. love the hell out of it. So if i can save some dinero and get the E-series, assuming there isnt much difference, that that is the route i will go fo sho.

Any one have or check out the Lomax hard top covers? @ScarWars Luke responded and mentioned those too.. they look pretty cool. Hoping someone has one in here and can give input.

Yeah mine has the safety straps near the cab just in case something happens and the cover will stay in place instead of flying off truck.

Hmm.. bet I could go cheaper model, and just make my own strap out of paracord, since it’s pretty durable.
@Hammy68 do you or can you shoot me a pick of the rugged liner up close to the cab where it mounts? Both of y’all have been very helpful in my decision making.

    So thanks fellas

Correct- there is E series in the the hard and soft covers. Here’s the install instructions which show its name. 09EDC060-D907-4414-9A15-D0EE11143371.jpg

I’ll get you a photo soon- mine doesn’t have safety straps, but I cannot imagine this thing going anywhere. It’s goes on and off easy and doesn’t move after it’s tightened.

awsome.. thanks man.. I sure aint going to pay 80 extra for a led light and safety straps and a branded logo... I am willing to bet the bed covers toyota uses are probably Rugged Cover E series hardtop if if comes with the truck.

I think its going to be either this or the Lomax for me.. decisions decisions.. its like shopping for a damn gun.
